Inception-Inspired Coffee Table Bends A City In Your Living Room

Some people watch Inception and think “you know, I feel inspired to make furniture.” And that’s precisely what Stelios Mousarris did with his Wave City Coffee Table. It draws on the scene in the movie where the power to bend dreams according to the dream architect’s will is demonstrated. Just like on the screen, the table folds an urban landscape on itself.

The table was accomplished via use of wood, steel, and 3D printing technology. It costs a cool 4000 euros. As for the designer, Stelios Moussaris comes from Cyprus. He worked for Fosters and Partners as a model maker and as an assistant designer at Duffy London before striking out on his own with the “Moussaris” company.

Imagine trying to dust it. It's also really cool

Looks really cool as a scuplture, no way this is a table. I'm surprised it doesn't bend down already, can't imagine this is usable as a table. It should have steel beam hidden between the buildings or a way thicker ground plate, this will bend and bounce all over the place. Besides that try putting a chair under it or sitting by it without damaging the structures.

I would think you'd always be hitting your knees on those buildings!

:-D My first thought (ok, my second thought after thinking 'Wow!') was also 'Oh my God, who's going to dust this?!' It does look stunning, though.

This one is clearly inspired by PBS documentary "elegant universe"
