In 2010 I made a five-month trip from Sydney to Beijing. During my travels, I met so many great artists and designers that I knew that as soon as I returned home to Germany illustration would be my new path.

I worked on watercolor drawings and portraits, but something was missing and it would take me months to find my personal style. I was looking for a fast and bold way to bring the images and thoughts out of my head.

So I started a series of illustrations called "Mindshots" inspired by my daily life. The title was born from the ideas that often pop out while working, talking, watching a movie, hanging out with friends or while being bored in the doctor's waiting room. Some are socially critical, while others are just plain ridiculous.

My very first Mindshot creation was a bird wearing an oxygen mask. I had this image in my mind for months after visiting Sydney and Beijing with intense smog on my trip. After a few years, dozens of illustrations and positive feedback on my Instagram, I decided to make a book that included my 50 best Mindshots.

Last year I visited a book fair in Frankfurt with a rough draft of the book in my bag and now I am happy to say it is available on Amazon. Hope you enjoy!

This one does not seem too accurate. It is true that people who spend much time in a virtual world are kind of isolated from life to some extent but for some people this may be voluntary choice. They are just more comfortable with computers and technics than other people.

Hey Petra, absoultely! It is not necessarily meant to be critical toward technology or the internet. Actually, when I did this I thought about how much I enjoy spending time by myself, all alone my own world, working on some stuff. On the other side time flies by so fast and you can work for hours or even days without any social relation or seeing any daylight. It is all about the balance, I guess :) Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts own this!!

When you're isolated, there's less drama, you don't have to deal with fake friends and peer pressure

This is very deep. You can never blame one person for war, a massacre, murder etc. It takes many to take lives.

We really need to get out more. It's sad that everyone is trying to be the "saveur du jour" on the internet for a little bit of self affirmation.

That with lemmings and suicide is a myth; the documentary where the story originated was manipulated: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/white-wilderness/ http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=wildlifenews.view_article&articles_id=56

This one is very well thought-out. With a world on the brink of war, I feel it is a lot like this picture.
