My name is Ülker (but call me just Lyra) and I'm an illustrator based in Istanbul, Turkey. I work as a full-time child and adolescent psychiatrist. After work, I shapeshift into an artist!

There are three things I do to relax: drawing, cooking, and eating. So on the verge of an art block, I decided to challenge myself with character design. Combining two things I love the most seemed like a creative idea I'd have the most fun with. And I did!

Before starting with these drawing ideas, I had to do a little research about the specific food brands' or snack's origin, production process, and discovered so much more when people started commenting and telling me about their homeland's most popular food! Overall, this food art project was a very fun and sometimes mouth-watering experience (when searching for reference photos on Pinterest).

As a mental healthcare professional, I can't stress enough how important art is to our souls and minds. Your unique art doesn't have to be perfect - creating even the smallest thing that can make our day more meaningful.

I plan to add more cute characters to the collection, so if you're on a diet - beware!

This one is my favorite, even though I've never had Starbucks. It just reminds me of Kurt Cobain and the grunge era, which is all fitting, since Starbucks is originally from Seattle as well, as far as I know.

I draw characters based off of objects and they can have purple. Like come, on, it's ART.

I never heard Oreos should be racist? Where I come from it's just a cookie. Seems like some people just want things to be racist for some reason. And contribute to keeping racism alive. Can't we just all have a cookie without it having to symbolise something?

Just because this character is a darker skinned person doesn´t mean that the artist is racist.

Gosh, can't people just enjoy this person's talent without having to cause controversy, I don't think they were trying to make it like this on purpose, the purpose was to make the character look like a certain theme...

Also if people are saying this is racist, then they are for just even thinking about someone's skin color in the first place

Why not just enjoy the concept of the artists work. This has not been done as a racist act. But to appreciate the effort that has gone in to the collection. I am a collector of many things if these were made in to dolls. I would love that so much. I would be first in line to buy them. Also if you see this post as racist. Then just keep your opinions to yourself, I'm trying to raise my children to not see people's race or religion, and they love Oreos if they knew the history of one of their favourite snacks it would ruin it for them. Try to see the joy in the art as it was intended.

it's just a piece of art! No need for the debate. respect creativity when it is presented to you!

[@Ketutar Jenson's comment:] "Google "Oreo Barbie". No, one shouldn't "just enjoy art". The artist could have made any other character black, just not Oreo. Ignorance is not an excuse, nor is it something one should just ignore. And, frankly, Oreos are white on the inside and brown on the outside. This character would look more like an Oreo if she was white wearing brown dress."

Not sure why the people who are pointing out this could be viewed as racist are being downvoted. I would have to agree with them. Also, why is everything being sexualized? Did a suppressed 14 year old boy draw these?

Gives a new meaning to meatball head. If you've seen the dubbed version of Sailor Moon, you know what I mean.

Matcha is powdered green tea. Its special because it is differently grown and processed than normal green tea.
