I have a passion for horror movies. And as an illustrator, I also love children's book illustration styles. Friendly, playful shapes and bright colors, cute animals.

I thought of a way to combine all these elements and came up with this fictional woodland where horror movie animals live. Every kid knows that wild animals are dangerous and it is a bad idea to go alone into the woods, right?

I have been drawing and sculpting ever since I was a kid. But after high school, when a decision about my career had to be made, I found out that there was an animation college and I could learn how to do 2D animation. That's when I took art seriously.

I love horror movies. I thought about a tribute to my favorite villains for a while. But I didn't want to do realism, it felt boring and I've seen that before. I like to create contrast in my works, emotional and visual. While thinking about the horror genre, I thought, what is the opposite of that? Well, children's books with happy animals. Hence the concept was done and it influenced the style and designs.

The easy and fun part of the creative process was to come up with villains merged with animals. The difficult part was to stay consistent with the shape language and to simplify the original designs of the characters down to a children's book.

I tried to finish each character in 3-4 sessions. Each session is a couple of hours.

Illustrations can create a new place where you haven't been before. They also work as a bridge between the audience and the author. I like how we communicate through this media.

Right now, I am working for games as a freelancer. But I plan to do a picture book next year. Storytelling and characters are my passion, I need to scratch that itch.
