Here’s How Disney And Video Game Characters Would Look If They Lived In 2019 (9 New Pics)
This year, Disney proved with the movie "The Lion King" that they can turn one of the best-known animated musical/drama classics into an incredibly astonishing photorealistic computer-animated remake which would keep movie theaters full all over the world. "The Lion King" is not the first (and hopefully, not the last) remake that Disney recently released. Disney has already recreated "Dumbo" and "Aladdin" in 2019, and we're also expecting to see "Maleficent" and "Lady and the Tramp" soon.
Chilean illustrator Fernanda Suarez also decided to recreate some famous Disney characters with the "Modern Princesses" project but this time with some characters from famous video games. Fernanda shows how famous characters would look if their movies would be released today. Each of them has their own unique features which are easily distinguished but at the same time, you can see a modern twist that the artist perfected. All characters are unique and charming reflecting on young and modern women, so the question is which one would you choose for a new live-action movie?

Ursula
The vicious Ursula is the main antagonist of the 1989 Disney movie "The Little Mermaid". Considered as one of the most popular Disney villains, she'll soon be seen in cinemas all over the world. Even though we're not entirely sure about the potential casting decisions for all the characters, the filming and production is rumored to start in early 2020.
It's so cool how Divine keeps inspiring people long after her creator, Harris Glenn Milstead, passed away.
Don't think that much people knows who Divine is/was. I know very well he was kind of the first famous drag queen and muse of director John Waters, hailing from Maryland. Let's not forget he recorded also some of the coolest hi-nrg disco records produced by nonetheless than Bobby Orlando himself. For completion, it's already odd that I know plenty about him not even being american in the first place but strangely enough, he had quite the following in Europe.
Load More Replies...She would be a plus sized model & people would trash her for it... That is our world in 2019.
There’s more love and support for plus sized models now than ever before, tho...
Load More Replies...The face is clearly inspired by the fantastic Cecily Strong. Think of the SNL skits where they say "Hi, we are not pornstars anymore"
There have been dozens of fantastic video game characters over the years.
Melissa McCarthy "confirmed" shes been cast as Ursula for the upcoming movie
No. Ursula was based on Divine, and looked EXACTLY like him. This is an F-
People need to stop downvoting this, Ursula was based off a drag queen :)
Load More Replies...Anastasia
Anastasia is an animated musical historical fantasy movie which was produced and directed by Don Bluth and Gary Goldman in 1997. Based on the urban legend that the missing princess Anastasia Romanov escaped the tragic murder of her family, the movie was associated with Fox Animation Studios and just recently became the property of Disney. That's right, Anastasia was not a Disney princess up until recently!
Anna
Princess Anna of Arendelle is a fictional character of Walt Disney Animation Studios' 53rd animated film Frozen. She's based on a character called Gerda which was featured in the Danish fairytale "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen.
Jessie
Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl is a major character in the "Toy Story" series. First appearing in Toy Story 2, she's a redhaired vintage pull string cowgirl toy from the 1950s and a former member of Woody's Roundup Gang.
the further i go in this list the more i realize this artist is needlessly sexualizing these characters. Jessie was a tomboy, abandoned when her girl became a girly girl. She wouldn't have worn short shorts, not only against her character but impractical. i don't know why this bothers me so much
Wendy Darling
Wendy Darling is the deuteragonist of the 1953 Walt Disney movie "Peter Pan" based on J. M. Barrie's original novel. It might be new for some of us that the name Wendy was very uncommon in the English-speaking world before "Peter Pan". It is thought that Barrie took this name from a phrase used by his friend's daughter Margaret Henley whom he befriended. She called him "friendly-wendy", which she pronounced as "fwendy-wendy". Unfortunately, Margaret Henley died at the age of five and was buried with her family.
Chun-Li
Chun-Li is a video game character from the Street Fighter series, originally debuting in Street Fighter II. What's really impressive is the fact that she's the first female fighter of any fighting game franchise. She's depicted as an expert martial artist and Interpol officer who restlessly seeks revenge for the death of her father.
Jane
Jane Porter is the deuteragonist of the 1999 Walt Disney movie "Tarzan". She is depicted as a very charismatic, albeit eccentric ethnologist who travels to Africa with her father to study gorillas. However, the expedition turns into a wild adventure where she meets a "wild named" Tarzan, with whom she eventually falls in love and later on, gets married to.
have to disagree about this one. Jane dressed for practicality within her eras ridiculous standards. Even now she'd probably be in jeans and a polo or t shirt.
Morrigan Aensland
Morrigan Aensland is an unforgettable blue-haired fictional character in the video game series called "Darkstalkers". She's pretty much an anti-hero and also a main protagonist who goes along with Demitri Maximoff. Charming, confident, sexy and playful, Morrigan can be all the things you want given that she is a succubus. However, she's not necessarily evil despite her heritage as a demon of the Makai realm.
Princess Peach
Princess Peach is a well-known video game character that is featured in Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros" series. She is the princess of the fictional Mushroom Kingdom and also the lead female character that often plays the damsel in distress role. Princess Peach is often portrayed as Mario's love interest that he's so eager to rescue. Fun fact: in 2017, Princess Peach actually was recognized as one of the wealthiest fictional people by Forbes magazine. Her fortune is estimated at approximately $1.3 billion. Who would have guessed that?
These are really well done. Some of them I didn't completely agree with, but the art was very good and most of them were spot on. :)
Yey!! More Disney If They... drawings, said no one ever. Wheres the originality?
I think there should be one of male characters too. There aren't many fanarts of male characters and I think it's because guys are harder to draw ( I know since I draw as well lol) but yea. Would be nice
I want to start off by giving credit where it is obviously due, incredible art skills that reflect the years of dedication and practice it's taken to achieve this level of creative skill. However, they all kind of look the same as far as features go. They all have the same stereotypically 'pretty' sort of face that is so widely used in character art today. I dont see much diversity... Ursula is the only one that seems to break out of that box. Being a practicing artist myself, I know how easy it is to fall into the 'same face' slump. I've definitely been there and still find myself wandering back to that tired and true 'comfort zone' sometimes. If I've learned anything, it's that continuing to keep myself locked in that zone completely takes the creativity out of the process. It's easier for sure, but extremely creatively stunting and takes the life out of my character art, deflating it, dulling it and making it 'flat'.
So my unsolicited advice is this: If something in the creative process makes you uncomfortable, all the more reason to do it. Challenge yourself to draw characters that push you out of what you've become used to. Maybe draw characters like Quasimodo, Captain Hook, the seven dwarves, fairy godmother and the stepsisters from Cinderella, maybe grandmother willow personified. By challenging yourself to draw characters that aren't conventionally young and attractive by society's standards, I believe in a way, it's another great opportunity to give a voice to those that dont fit in that box, making art to build the bridge of using what makes humans unique as the catalyst for bringing us all closer together.
Load More Replies...Shoulda, coulda, woulda.... but apparently it is stil not & guess what: it will never be.
Does everything have to be turned into some sort of sexual thing? (Yes I know about Disney and it's perversion as well as the entire world's need to make everything about sex and or race..) but come on! Why can't something just be what is... A cartoon for children.
Yer I'm pretty sure Disney and video game characters are not just all women! Where are all the male characters?????
