19 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Park In A Disabled Spot If You’re Not Handicapped
There's always some inconsiderate asshole who doesn't care how or where they park. The worst are those who decide to occupy spaces designated for people with disabilities. The only people who can legally use these spaces are those who hold a permit, but this doesn't stop selfish drivers from claiming these spots on a daily basis. Also, some bikers think it's OK to park on those stripes that sit either side of a disabled parking space. Guess what? Those stripes aren't for bikes! They're there to allow people with disabilities additional room to manoeuvre.
Check out this list compiled by Bored Panda for some of the worst offenders we could find. Don't forget to vote for the most discourteous driver!

I Confronted A Handicap Parking Thief, She Assaults Me
Looks like when people are confronted with the f****d up s**t they're doing they get pissed, I was attacked by a man that I confronted for leaving his dog locked in his car for an hour on a 90 degree day. Now he's meeting me in court on assault charges =) HELL YEA I'm pressing charges!!!
good on you! No one has the right to treat their pets like that

Did anyone else notice she was throwing her old drinks that had been sitting in her car, at him? She put the new ones on the dash. Odds are she was going to leave it on the side of the parking lot anyway. Nasty woman.
He probably could have said "What makes you so special?" a little bit less frequently.
I hope this princess was prosecuted for both the assault and the parking violation. I'd get her on the seatbelt, too.
And there's even a ton of space on that parking lot. What a stupid cow.
i was verbally assaulted by some ladies on their way out of a restaurant when i informed them the crosshatch between the handicap spaces is not parking... according to them, i should mind my own business. I hope i ruined their lovely night because they didn't want to walk from the available spaces in the parking lot in their ridiculous heels in winter with some icy snow...
I like how calm the man is. "What makes you so special?" Lol! That lady was a b***h. I really do hope he took that video to the police.
Good on you for confronting this very selfish, self absorbed woman to wake her up out of her pretentious dream that the world revolves around her. I hope you did press charges, and that the coffee didnt burn you. Id been happy to pay the dry cleaning bill foy youd.
I no longer feel ambivalent about hoping people like that learn the hard way what life with a disability is like. I used to think it was too mean, but years of having access denied because of entitled brats who feel like what little consideration there is that gives you a chance to live life is meant for them to use as they see fit sure wears you down.
My brother is handicapped. Once we were entering a restaurant that we had to use a non-handicapped parking space for when 2 perfectly fine teenage girls got out of the car. We called them out, and they were about to respond when my 6 year old brother in crutches rolled out. That shut em up
What a disgusting person. I love it when someone who does something wrong acts so slighted that someone noticed what they did, then they respond by showing their a*s. Gross!
Pull out and flip him.off like a normal crazy person, you are never supposed to go full crazy like that. Lol
She was a total b***h, but him starting the conversation with a recording would p**s off anyone to be honest. People and their phones are just a 100% guarantee for a confrontation. You cant just start video-taping someone you don't know. I would press charges against anyone recording me without my consent.
I'll agree that taking video right off the bat was a stupid move, but actually you can videotape someone without their permission as long as it's done in a public space. Not sure if it's conditional, but the Supreme Court determined a long time ago that people can have no expectation of privacy when they are out in public.
Load More Replies...It's none of your business regarding if someone parks in a disabled parking spot - not all disabilities are visible or obvious. For example I am a below knee amputee, don't use wheelchairs nor do I use walking sticks. Many people think I'm able bodied because I walk very well with only a slight limp. However, I use disabled parking spots whenever possible because, my disability affects how far I can walk comfortably. So anyone who doesn't know me could walk up to me and tell me off for parking in a disabled spot, and if they did, they'd rightfully get an earful. Don't assume that just because someone appears to be able bodied that they don't have a largely invisible condition that gives them reason to need to use a disabled parking spot. Even if they are able bodied, how do you know the same doesn't apply to a passenger of theirs? Most of you are unlikely to be qualified to assess whether they should park there so mind your own biz! (Of course I'm talking about civilian drivers/passengers here... not cops etc!)
it's no one's business what your disability is. and you don't have to explain yourself to anyone. but if you're going to park in a disabled spot, you best have your handicap placard hanging.

Shouldn't assume that a disabled person couldn't possibly drive a sports car. I'm disabled. I have a badge for parking. I am not in a wheelchair and if I wasn't broke I could drive one of these!! Not all disabilities are viable.

There are some entries here that could serve as examples, but also several that praise self-justice as reasonable. It is not, for it will not change behaviour and is prone to failure, too. Yes, a car parked in a disabled spot should have a sign, but having none does not necessarily mean that it does not park there because a disabled person disembarked it, and it in particular does not mean that it should be damaged.
I agree. I try not to make assumptions about people who park in handicapped spots without a placard. Could be, they just forgot it. Yes, it is a requirement to have the placard displayed on the vehicle if it doesn't have handicapped plates. But i'm not going to ask someone to prove their disability over a parking space. It's simply not my business. My best friend, who had terminal cancer, had someone get in her face after she parked in a handicapped spot. He said, "you don't look disabled to me!" This is why i don't make assumptions.
Load More Replies...I agree that able people who wilfully park in disabled spots are jerks, but please...don't take justice into your own hands unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that no one in that vehicle is disabled. Many disabilities are invisible. Many people have relatively good days and days with disabling flare-ups. Maybe we forgot our placard, or due to a number of possible obstacles, don't have one at the moment. It SUCKS to get told on a regular basis that "Oh, you can't have a disability, you're too young/pretty/aren't missing a limb/etc." Now imagine someone, on a bad health day, fighting to get through their errands mentally and physically, comes out to find their car has been vandalized by a ~vigilante~. Sincerely, someone who personally and via friends/acquaintances has been harassed and mistreated because know-it-alls didn't believe in our disability.
You should be careful however before making snap judgement... I need a handicap pass (Sometimes) sometimes I don't. Sometimes I forget to put it in the window, judgement should be left only to law enforcement, nobody should be the arbitrator of my disability nor should you jump to conclusions about authenticity. That being said, some of these people are in clear violation such as the double spot, the cops and the motorcycles.
I makes me angry , twice today I've had to tell 2 taxi drivers to move from the disabled parking spot as I need the spot (I'm disabled)
Not that you should have to in the first place, but you should complain to the taxi company (it should be against their policy) and if the same company keeps doing it, report them to the police.

Some of these were clearly wrong. Although I echo what others are saying that sometimes you can't see a disability. My sister has various issues but yet she's young and is not in a wheelchair for the time being. But yet she constantly gets accosted when she parks in the handicap parking. She's even given up parking there even though she's still in pain.

My mom had one leg and refused to use a handicap spot unless my dad had to push her in a wheelchair when she was too weak to use crutches or roll the chair herself. There is just no good reason for people to take up a handicap spot if they don't need it. It is not really that difficult to walk and most of us could do with a little more walking.
I'm sorry, do you think all people with a handicap *can* walk but are too lazy to ?
