Rotorua is a geo-thermal wonderland. Encased by volcanoes, hot springs and explosive geysers and set amongst some of the most beautiful landscape in New Zealand, Rotorua is a must-see destination on the North Island. Bubbling springs and smokey peaks are everywhere in this small town.

Nearby is White Island; an awesome active volcano island just off the coast of Whakatāne. While heading out to White Island our guide told us that he hadn’t seen grey smoke come out of the island in years. Turns out the volcano was the most active it had been in the last three years and we almost weren’t allowed on! Feast your eyes on these… And you don’t even have to put up with the smell!
