I Spent Quarantine Painting Intricate Pieces Of Litter Into My Traditional Nature Landscapes.
2Kviews
We were told to self isolate and I immediately started painting. I drew inspiration from the famous Bob Ross series, The Joy of Painting, a television show that teaches how to paint through the observation of nature. Realizing that my paintings were more complete by adding litter, I wanted to visually signify how our garbage had become something we can’t ignore on our planet’s landscape. The color, scale and placement of the litter is a representation of how trash presents itself as a posing problem and how unavoidable and seemingly inseparable it is from our natural environment. So far, being in quarantine has inspired me to produce 10 paintings and I plan to continue the series anticipating it to evolve into new ideas about what the world looks like through the culture of our waste.
