Two words Erimos-Iremos ,two words in Greek that have not only the same sound but almost the same meaning .Erimos means Desert and Iremos means Calm.I found this combination of meanings in one of the many ,yes many deserts we have here in Greece .I triped one in South Corfu .near the lake Korrision .Boundless areas of sand dunes , but with something really rare .A forest of Cedars .This species lives fine in this area full of sand and rock , giving the opportunity to some species of birds to live as well .It’s a place that ,we can compare only with the planet Mars .Τhe similarities with martian rock formation were in my mind all the time .This desert places in a
This desert places in a natural 2000 zone ,so we the astrophotographers can take advantage of.We don’t have light pollution so we can see with the naked eye the milky way in its glory ,despite that ,the good weather condition helps us a lot to see the stars very well in summer nights.So this is a place of an exotic beauty here on Earth ,here in Greece it is a place of a must visit once in a lifetime .The desert waits for you .Can you become one with it?Answer that ,when you will be there soon .
