I’m in the process of expanding my art studio in Atlanta and needed new furniture for my new office space. I found cheap scrap metal on Craigslist and used sand paper and spray paint to bring them back to life. The desk was repaired, sanded and graffiti’d and the A-frames were repurposed as a multi use art easel or side desk. I documented my process with still and video imagery below.

The desk was originally gloss yellow, rusted and broken when I found it.

The A-frames were greasy, rusted and needed support beams.

I used a basic orbital sander to prep the surface for new paint.

I used Kobra spray paint to graffiti the desk frame.

I used my carport as an outdoor shelter to paint this.

I decided to leave the drawers metal due to its natural patina.

I painted the surface of the desk white so I would have a blank background to take pictures of art on.

I even repainted the inside of the desk.

I created an aged wood look for my easel support beams.
