I am an artist and painter from Germany and mainly paint the moon in shades of indigo. Why? As probably many of you, I have always admired the beauty of the moon and been hugely inspired by it.
Mahatma Gandhi put it beautifully: “When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator.” One day I decided to paint the moon and create dreamy little scenes with those paintings.
Now I am into painting the moon more and more abstract and monochromatic. Indigo as a color has such depth and I love to watch the pigment spread across the page, as I lose control of where the color goes and become a spectator of the process, once the color is placed on the wet paper. One could call it adventure painting.

Load More Replies...it would be cool to do all the shades of the moon.......all in one! These are really cool, good job
Did you use something like a telescope to see the moon or just how you feel it? It seems so detailed !
I paint abstract versions of the moon. Even though I know what the surface looks like, I want to convey a certain magic/whimsical air in my paintings. :) <3
