Over the last decade, more and more people started experimenting with their image in order to stand out and emphasize their identity. One of such trends that are growing rapidly every year is ear stretching, also known as gauging. Ear stretching has a close relationship with ear piercing, since ear stretching slowly enlarges a body piercing for the purpose of wearing certain types of jewelry. Stretching an ear piercing requires a lot of dedication and time in order to avoid tearing earlobe apart. Only an ear piercing that is slightly stretched can shrink back to its original size, however it still depends on several factors including the length of time that was used to stretch the year and the elasticity of the skin. However, although this trend is becoming more popular among people, it goes back a long way. It is believed that various tribes, such as Maasai, have used ear stretching to alter their appearance for centuries. It seems that over the next few years, this fashion may become an integral part of our daily life. So that is why I’m started to stretch my own ears and make a steampunk plugs from watch movements.
