It's fascinating to see how people's attitudes and views have changed throughout all these years. Sure thing, everyone is unlike each other no matter what generation you were born in – however, speaking strictly about the societies of specific periods, the difference is truly bewildering.
Each generation has its own twist, whether it's something positive or not. Every one of us has lived or is living in our own version of the world, and sometimes it's simply impossible to imagine what the following generations could be like.
Take boomers and those that fall into generation Z, for instance. The contrast between these two is immense, and it's impressive how distant the generations are from each other. Besides, most of you have probably heard that "OK boomer" catchphrase that came around a couple of years ago: it was and sometimes is still used to sort of mock the attitude of the pre-millennial folks.

Well, today, we'll be focusing on the boomers and boomers only, as these Twitter users decided to gather together and reveal occasionally sarcastic yet amusing things they absolutely adore about those mid-20th-century babies.

Let's start from the beginning; baby boomers, or, if shortened boomers, is a term used to describe folks who were born between 1946 and 1964. All together, boomers make up approximately 26 percent of the population and the reason why the generation was named this way was because of the spiking birth rate that began to happen right after WWII. People were forced to put an indefinite pause on their lives and risk everything instead, so it's understandable that the majority wanted to start their new chapter and create their own families as soon as the global conflict was finally out of the picture.
Looking back at the "OK boomer" trend, a lot of youngsters don't appreciate the older generation's outlook on today's different societal matters. Now, of course, it's unacceptable to generalize a whole age group, which is why most people are aware that many older folks are actually very self-aware, tend to positively impact on the planet, and are generally eager to educate themselves if they're willing to understand that, these days, society's views are completely contrasting to those they are so used to.
I'm Gen X and the last time i read a newspaper is 20 years ago. Tv too, why should i watch news? We have Internet now. :D
Though, if we think about it – conflict between generations is not a new phenomenon. Despite the fact that the gaps between all those different age groups are not immensely huge, our society views change with the speed of light. For the last 60 or so years, our world has undergone such a colossal switch; we've been through wars, economical issues, our scientists made literally humongous progress in medicine, people came up with unimaginable technology and most importantly – folks became more accepting. Somehow, it's possible to comprehend that older generation might have a problem with catching up with today's morality; however, the blatant ignorance of some could never be excused.
1968 (Me) UCLA = $300 per year. Nowadays, the majority of younger individuals are very inspired to better the planet. People come up with many movements to better the lives of those who are underprivileged or in need, resulting in this generation striving to be more mindful of various problems that hinder people's overall peace. Still, a concerning amount of folks stay in denial of all the things that are wrong with our society, which is why it's important to educate those who are a little lost. Though, it's not always possible to change someone's opinion – so things like "OK boomer" might occasionally surface as a sort of opposition to those who are not willing to learn.
OMG for F's sake everyone!!! Yes everyone of us had had it hard. In our own screwed up generational way. Every generation got screwed by the one before it and got made fun of by the ones coming after it. We ALL had to walk to school. uphill. both ways. with crappy shoes okay. Everybody sucks. While the generational conflict is an issue that will most likely follow folks that come after us, and the folks that come after them – there's nothing anyone can do that would completely stop or at least interfere, to then magically make all the people of the world stand together and have a universally positive mindset. While we can use our voices and various resources to improve our community, there'll be still someone who will be actively standing up for something that is considered to be morally wrong.
Pretty sure the companies didn't want to pay for anything either. Something about a profit margin.
It's important not to stand still and progress for the sake of those who will come after us – however, no one could physically predict what's going to happen in a few weeks' time, let alone in 50 years. The harsh reality is that maybe humans will never be able to bond as much as some would've liked to, but it doesn't mean that we should stop trying.
I'm 29 and make fun of anyone who buys apple. Doesn't matter the age, you buy apple once okay I can let it slide, you buy apple frequently knowing you're device will be updated in a few years to run slower when it's already considered dated by apple standards, yeah imma laugh at you.
I know, right? Like who's got time for that? Man, it reminds me of when I was growing up in a small farm town. We didn't have much, but we appreciated what we had. Everyone didn't agree with each other on everything, but we all got along and let each other be, you know what I mean? Billy, Jim and I used to ride out bikes every which way. On the hit summer days you'd find us down at the creek where someone had tied a rope to an old tree branch to swing into the water. Other days we'd be exploring the woods, finding new hiding spots or building forts. One day Billy climbed to the top of a really high line tree, so high the branches couldn't support his weight and he had to cling to the top of the trunk because he was afraid he'd fall if he tried to get back down to the sturdier branches. Jim stayed with him and I rode like the wind to find Billy's pa who had an old time fire truck with the extendable ladder. Man, we still joke about those days sometimes. Weddings are expensive and I've seen elderly people working. Not great jobs they aren't qualified but jobs nonetheless. Why do you think boomers just stop working. Rather shortsighted don't you think.
Some language just sticks. I still "dial" a number and "hang up" a call to end it but use a smartphone. I'm an older millennial.

Its an excuse for bad behavior saying one should be forgiven for all excesses because we only have one chance to enjoy ourselves. Many of the bad things in this world, from climate change deniers to anti-vaxxers, boil down to I deserve to be happy even if it means others are hurt because we only have one chance at happiness.
I mean - it comes from the latin term "libra pondo" which means "weight in pounds." It was abbreviated to lb (with a cross through the l and b) in the 14th century. The lb typeface was developed by printers in the 17th century. Handwriting that symbol eventually evolved into what you know today but the symbol was still called "pound." It wasn't until Internet Relay Chat (Yay 90s!) that anyone ever used the term hashtag, and that was mostly just used by the software engineers. The use of the octothorpe in Twitter came about in 2007 when a Gen Xer named Chris Messina suggested it to Twitter - and he called it a pound sign even then. Just saying, 800 years of it being called pound vs 25 years of anyone even knowing the term hashtag and really only in common use for the last 10-15 years.

My favourite thing my mother does is that when she gets any notification from any social media, she thinks it has been directed personally to her. So she will tell me that my cousin has shared with her about his bike accident, when he has just posted the wreck on FB. She thinks that every Quora notification she gets is someone asking a question to her specifically. She is even convinced that she is the most knowledgeable person on the planet about British royalty because she once was at number one globally on some little quiz app one time. I have learned it's easier to just agree and let it go.
Ugh some of these were just garbage. Really giving younger gens a bad name. Do better BP contributors.

I found this whole article deeply offensive. Boomers aren't all the same as each other, there are about as many levels of skill, knowledge and opinion as there are individual boomers. Most of these so called stereotypes are true for small percentages of boomers at best. The thing so many younger people forget is how damn tired someone is when they reach a certain age. It's too much work to change some habits, for example I still call my married friend by their maiden names sometimes. And older people have acquired perspective. What looks really important to a zoomer or gen Xer or anyone, really, might not actually be that important after it's been through the test of time. Try respecting the learning and wisdom that we have gained. Otherwise karma may come around and bite you hard in the a**.
Many of these are just dumb, others could be understood with just a little empathy. For example, most boomers grew up in a household with one telephone. It was understood that frivolous calls were not encouraged, so a phone ringing usually meant something important, so of course difficult to tune out. As for the comments about being unaware of climate change: That is just bizarre. Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, "Silent Spring" was written in 1962 and recycling programs really took off as of the late 80's and 90's in NA, earlier in Europe. Some of these posts are silly as the reverse version, where older people claim younger ones cannot sew on button, let out a dress or fix a hemline or read a map. Each generation has knowledge, why not simply share and everyone better off?

I am a millennial, and I find most of these posts extremely rude and judgmental. Apparently we have a right to expect to boomers to change to look at the world the way we do but how dare they expect us to see things like them? We expect everyone to embrace other people's differences but what we're only truly willing to accept differences as long as they still fit in the small area we have deemed appropriate.
This is nonsense for the most part. You can learn from anyone, if you get your head out of your backside.
My father was a high school dropout. But he taught me hard work. I have $3 million in my 401(k) after 35 years in the workforce (and I put myself through college). There's been plenty of sacrificing on my part. Get off your butt and get to work. Make it happen; it isn't going to find you - you have to make it happen.

As a member of Gen X, I think millennials are a bunch of whiney babies that got participation trophies for showing up (I earned the trophies I got, & I didn't earn the trophies I didn't get), give bullies too much power (bullying isn't new, but everybody's sensitivity has spiked because everyone's mommy & daddy tells them how perfect they are & nobody is allowed to call anybody out on their b******t because they're afraid of their own shadow or getting shot up), & have no patience, expecting everything handed to them on a silver platter because they feel entitled to everything without working for anything. Come at me bro - I started babysitting weekends & summers at 11 & working at 14, worked full time as a low-paid admin, went to college full time at night, & lived in an apartment with my (now) husband, while cooking, cleaning, maintaining a budget, and saving/paying for my own wedding and honeymoon, then saved up a down payment for a POS starter house IN NEW JERSEY. No more excuses.
