Some say about North Korea that the only ones who smile are the "Dear Leaders" on the propaganda stuff. But after 6 trips in the most closed country, I can say that North Koreans are not the robots many depict... They also smile!
Even if they suffer from the lack of freedom and a dictatorship, they can have happy moments in their life... This was not easy to take those pics as the guides that always follow you are always suspicious, even when they see happy people!

These are photos of people who tow the party line and also live in the only decent city in that hell hole. Also these are people that have free state housing / benefits for loyalty to that fat little murderer / dictator. If they don't smile it's a one way trip to labor camp #666. Anywhere else in the country people barely have the basics to sustain life. Even though the people in the photos are smiling, they are really in fear of losing what little they have which could happen at any moment.

There's a difference between smiling and being happy. If someone tells me to smile with a gun to my back, I'll smile. But I won't be happy. :-(
You can take as many pictures of smiles as you want. But it is still one of the most oppressive regimes in the world. Call me cynical if you want

I can't believe that's your answer. Why not say "I agree, I know it's a very oppressive regime but I wanted to show daily life there"?? Instead of questioning if people have been there... I haven't and I don't think I need to go to read the reports by the UN that says there is no freedom of speech and where people are regularly emprisoned because of their religion or political beliefs. Your pictures are nice and show that despite where you live, life goes on and these people still have loved ones and reasons to be happy, but seriously. If you expect only people who have actually visited North Korea to have an opinion and if that opinion cannot be about the oppressive regime, maybe you shouldn't put your pictures online.
I suppose it's a totally different paradigm, but inside this they still live a life like we know, containing love, tears and smile
under all circumstances and under whatever regime/system/government, we are human beeings with all the joys, fears and dreams...
