Well, as the article mentions, some people have a gene coding for making coriander taste like soap. "Taste" as a concept is more of a preference based on past experiences. It's impossible to accurately tell what someone experiences when tasting something. But you can tell (for instance) that pineapple has certain flavors we recognize in other foods. So you could say it tastes sweet and sour and has a specific smell. But someone with the gene will experience (without a doubt) the smell and taste of soap in stead of describing coriander as citrussy or other smells/flavors. So it's not just not liking it, it is as if someone asked you to add soap shavings through your food. I know. I thorougly hate it :)

There's nothing about personal reference to it here, it simply makes most of us gag and feel like vomiting whther we like the taste or not.

Yeah I agree. People were insulting others who like coriander but like...it's the taste of an herb...there's so reason to get so worked up about it...?

Yes, Enuya! I also do not see the reasons for shaming people over an herb. It's not as if anyone is MAKING people eat coriander. I understand if %10 of people have a genetic aversion, but there are literally thousands of food sensitivities, or worse, allergies. Why are coriander haters so special that everyone else deserves to be insulted?

I think arugula is probably the same way - love it or hate it, no middle ground. I like them both bc they go with so many different cuisines.
