I Found This Amazing Bridge That Creates An Optical Illusion

The photos have been taken in July 2017 at the beautiful Rakotz bridge in Kromlau park in Gablenz – Germany. The bridge is located in a public park. It’s been built in the 60’s of the 19th century. Because of the unique construction and the reflection in the water which, from whatever point of view you take, merges into a perfect circle it also has the ‘nickname’ The Devil’s Bridge’. It must have been built by Satan because it is so miraculous. It’s been commissioned by a knight of the local area, and while the bridge was created by hand it seems that the aesthetics were more important than its utility. It is forbidden to access the bridge and walk on it.

I wanted to shoot the bridge at sunset and sunrise, which I did. You can clearly see a difference between the purple-ish photos that have been taken during sunset and the more blue and green-ish photos that have been taken during sunrise. I found it important to show the bridge at both events to show the difference between it. Sunset had great sky with nice colours. I loved the fact that during sunrise, which was around 5am when I was there, there was fog on the water which gives it an even more mystical effect. Next to that I was happily accompanied by a random cat that stayed with me all the time.
