My name is Rebecca Wang. I am a traditional artist who creates vibrant and expressive animal portraits using bright vibrant colors. I use mostly acrylic paints on canvas for my creations. I use bright rainbow colors and bold brush strokes to create energy and movement in these artworks.
As a former veterinary technician, I have always had a deep love and appreciation for animals and the natural world. I distill this passion into each painting I create, allowing the individual personality and spirit of each animal to shine through. I especially like to focus on the eyes and put the most detail there. After all, the eyes, as they say, are the windows to the soul.
Although I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil in my hand, I started to create art more seriously about 12 years ago. I like to use bright energetic colors in my paintings. In art and design, colors help to set a mood, and a full spectrum of rainbow colors can create a feeling of happiness and well being. I call my style of art "colorful realism". I take the natural colors and markings of the animal and enhance it to really bring out their energy.
I have been painting pet portraits for the past two years. As a veterinary technician, my job was to preserve the human-animal bond. As an artist, I am doing that as well, but in a different way. Pets are members of the family, and the bonds we share with them are very deep and unique. By creating these portraits, I am helping to maintain that special bond. The pet parents will be able to cherish their precious memories of their beloved pets with these memorial portraits.
The paintings below are a mixture of my best original artworks and pet portrait commissions.
