I create anything and everything I can using faux silk flowers. I always wanted to be a florist, but wasn’t too keen on 3am starts and freezing flower markets and always get upset when I have to throw wilting and dead flowers away.

So by using everlasting flowers, I create pretty much anything! Floral crowns, garlands, flower hair clips, combs and floral fashion accessories. Floral back drops for studios, theatre and events. Christmas and wedding wreaths. Giant Floral letters, numbers and shapes for wedding venue decor, window displays and studio props. Every day is different. I could be making a delicate pastel bridal posy one day, and fantastically large, kitsch and in your face cabaret headdresses the next.

The pretty and the possessed, the whimsical and the wild. Each unique piece allows me to explore a different side of my personality. I use a mix of new and original vintage artificial flowers, kitsch plastic fruit, feathers, birds butterflies and vintage jewellery. Skulls, unicorn horns, old watches, old top hats, old 1950’s ladies fascinators, vivid coloured gemstones, sparkles, rhinestones, pearls, lace, ribbons and bows.

A heady mix of everything and anything that catches my eye! I’m basically a magpie. I am fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to style many photo shoots, collaborating with some fantastic photographers and industry experts. This is a great way to not only showcase my work and the work of those working with me on the shoot, but also a way for me to create a story in which my work can come to life. As a busy businesswomen and mum of two, I find designing and creating these one off pieces hugely satisfying and relaxing.

It gives me the opportunity to let my creativity run wild and for my mind to wander free for while. I grew up in a home filled with old books, art and furniture from the arts and crafts and Art Nouveaux period. I was given children’s books with illustrations by the likes of Arthur Rackham, Mabel Lucie Attwell, Kate Greenaway and Walter Crane and spent hours in dusty old book shops, antique fairs and junk shops with my parents. I was taken to art galleries and introduced to the immense beauty of Pre-Raphaelite art and as I grew up, I began to discover and fall in love with the art and images of the 1920’s right through to the 60’s.

I live in a large single story 1960’s house in Surrey with my husband and 2 boys and I’m loving the creative process of reinstating the original mid century features and furnishing it with a an eclectic mix of everything I love. I have a fascination with the glorious floral images on old Victorian greetings cards and by the language and sentiment behind each flower. But will always find the bizarre, obscure and macabre equally inspiring! I am not a purist, a collector or an expert on any particular era or style. I have filled my home, my head and my heart with a little bit of anything that makes me smile, gasp with joy or clap my hands in sheer delight! My hope is that I create something along the way, that makes others smile, gasp or clap their hands in delight too!
