Ron Rambo was born with cerebral palsy. He and I have been friends for almost 30 years. Ron has had a talented bunch of folks, Team Rambo, working pro bono to build him a revolutionary “green” home here in Lancaster, PA. The house, dubbed “Ramboland”, would be completely wheelchair accessible and would produce up to 3x the power it would consume yearly via solar panels. “Ramboland” will be a living laboratory for sustainability and be a model for future sustainable urban housing development. Visit the website for complete information, to see renderings of the house (and perhaps make a donation?) at www.ramboland.com.

I contribute to the project by creating paper sculptures inspired by origami, local Amish quilting and sacred mandalas. The sculptures start with a single photo. Using duplication of the image to create symmetry, I print those abstracted images on photographic paper and fold them origami-style.

I am not a professional artist and don’t sell my work; I offer the pieces in exchange for donations to the “Ramboland” project.
