We all like to think that age is just a number. And it kinda works until you come across a relic from the old times. Your heart starts pumping, and you gotta tell yourself "I ain’t a kid no more."
So when someone started the "I’m this old" Twitter challenge, it blew up in an instant. People started sharing pictures of old-school stuff that best represents how old they’ve gotten. From Myspace accounts and floppy disks to Accelerated Reader and Yogos Bits, there’s a relatable thing for virtually everyone. So let’s go down memory lane, where everything feels so much more recent than it actually is.

If any of these objects seem familiar, there’s a great chance you belong to the millennial generation, which covers anyone born from 1981 to 1996. That being said, the youngest millennials are now fully-grown adults. That means we can clearly spot the generational differences in comparison to to Generation X (born from 1965-1980) and baby boomers (born from 1946-1964).
According to Pew Research Center, millennials make up the 2nd largest generation in the US electorate, “a fact that continues to shape the country’s politics given their Democratic leanings when compared with older generations.” In general, this demographic group is “more educated but there’s a sharp economical divide between those with a college education and those without it.”

Apparently, whatever your first choice was, it was never a mine. Never realised that. Just thought I was always lucky.
School Stuff
I did! I could fold little paper ninja stars, too! I folded notes like this for my boyfriend and now my kids are old enough that they could fold notes like this to their boy/girlfriends but all they ever do is send texts. Soooo boring!

At school we had to play the Oregon Trail to learn about the Oregon trail. Me and my friends would name the people strange names so whenever someone died it was hysterical. This was only last year. My teacher was old.
lol mine too, the textbooks are literally older than me
Load More Replies...I actually got one of those pencil sharpeners for a Christmas gift one year. Ok, it was one of many gifts but I can still remember how disappointed, and I have to admit, a bit angry I was when I opened it and that was probably 55 years ago...the things we remember.
Load More Replies...The food and pencil sharpener are still in the Alton school district.
We all fought over Oregon Trail when I was a kid. We didn't have enough copies for everyone to play it at once. I also really miss some of the lunches my school had when I was a kid. There is always that mystery slop stereotype about school food, but everything we had was pretty awesome. Only stuff I didn't like were things I don't eat no matter what, like the soft shell tacos (I hate soft flour tortillas). We never got the little pretzels like in that photo, but the "Reeses" dessert was amazing. Crushed Graham cracker base, some sort of peanut butter cream, and then chocolate pudding on top.
the school lunches when I was a kid were disgusting so I always brought my lunch
Load More Replies...We had those pencil sharpeners in my elementary school! wow.
Oh my God! Why did we look forward to Square, bland pizza? Add chocolate milk and.......
Still have the pencil sharpener my brother got when he toured the APSCO factory while in kindergarten, 70 years ago
I recognize two of these. The trays (I think that's what the picture is supposed to be, rather than any of the food) was the standard at my school until third grade, but then I moved schools, and have moved many times since then, and haven't seen one since, so I think it was exclusively that school/district/area/city. And the pencil sharpeners are still all over my old middle school, which my sister goes to, but probably only because it's rumored the last time it was remodeled was in the 50's, which leads to the theory that the boys get actual assigned gym lockers while the girls get locker 'boxes' which are less than a square foot, and are only allowed to use the real lockers during class. We put our gym stuff in the boxes when we are done. My librarian, who was, like, 60, and went to the school, said it was because at the time, far less girls did gym and sports. I kept hoping that they'd remodel while I was still there. No such luck.
Or ember the Oregon trail, but I was born in early 2000s and we had really old games and that was one of them😂😂
Yes to all here in Canada except the lunch thing at my school. We had a cafeteria but was small. You could get food but I'm not sure ht they had and went home for lunch.
I miss the OLD Oregon Trail! I was an excellent buffalo sniper. LOL. Also had lots of tombstones with my name on them :(
Best pencil sharpener, cleaning house after my oldest kid moved out and came across the Oregon trail disk LOL
If someone uses pencil still, as professional cartoonists, using manual or electric pencil sharpener.
Slave terminals were the first step for computer registration, previously they were done on direct registration machines.
The school I go to has all of those. And yes, my classmates and I used to pass each other notes in class. We played Oregon Trail during history once because our history teacher was being nostalgic.
I was old enough to actually appreciate these things. Especially The Oregon Trail. Classic!
Okay so: That computer is ancient. That slop is nasty and my PRIVATE school serves cheese-stuffed pizza, so can't relate. My private school still has those sharpeners on every door. AND THOSE NOTES ARE SOOOO FUN TO FOLD <3
Do people not use pencil sharpeners any more? I'm pretty sure pencils still exist and are still quite useful in many cases.
That pizza was so good! Still have one of those pencil sharpeners in our basement!
Yes, yes & yes. We used Apple IIe's in 7th grade computer class in 1984.
I had a Zenith "portable". Orange letters on the green screen and weighed a ton.
My kids still for letters that way and I have a sharpener in the house we just moved into that I had been wanting for 30 years
At my school, for some reason they replaced the plastic ones with styrofoam!
They still have those sharpeners at my school, and my school is fairly new
Those sharpeners never seem to work. Also, at my schools, why does it feel like the food quality has just gone down over the years? They keep saying they're healthier options, but I don't want pizza that falls apart as soon as I take a bite.
*raises hand* except for that computer. My elementary school had newer ones. In color.
First time I had pizza in school, I was so excited. Then it came out rectangular and for some reason I couldn't handle the fact that it wasn't triangular and next thing you know, you had a five year old in hysteria in the middle of the cafeteria... I refused to order school pizza until like 7th grade
I don't think we had the first three in Finland, the fourth one I assume is just a kid thing anyway
My classes have the pencil sharpener in our classrooms, and my elementary school had the lunch trays
Ugh... we still have those crappy pencil sharpeners in our classrooms...
Hey, those rectangle pizza's were amazing. I can still remember the taste. Sometime in the '90's my high school switched to hexagon pizza. Not the same.
During quarantine, the school district has been delivering those school lunches to my house for the kiddos. I've been trading lunches with them. I had rectangle pizza last Friday. It still tastes exactly the way I remember it.
Load More Replies...Ah yes everything pictures brings back so many memories! Except the milk carton, we had milk in a plastic bag that u had to puncture (a little circle was on the bag to show u where) with a plastic straw.
To compare with their predecessors, millennials tend to be more conscious about their health and general well-being. A 2013 Aetna poll showed that “baby boomers were likely to define 'healthy' as not falling sick.” Meanwhile, millennials consider healthy eating habits and physical activity as the definitions of healthy. That explains why we have seen such a rise in food preferences like vegan, gluten-free, organic, and other natural alternatives.
On the other hand, there’s a steady tendency of decline in millennial homeownership. Business Insider suggests that this is due to the fact that as a whole “they have less money than their parents did at the same age.” According to this report titled “Are Millennials Different?” by The Federal Reserve: millennials have lower earnings, fewer assets, and less wealth compared to baby boomers.

Same, I'm 14 and came to see the things I wouldn't recognize. The vast majority I do.

"Omg, I'm so old I remember my little kid toys from 2007!!" - Look, I'm 36, older than a lot of people on here talking about how 'old' they are, but I admit that I'm not really that old yet. A lot of you little latter-Millennial and first wave 'Gen-Z' babies have a long, long way to go before you can talk about this stuff without sounding absurd to actual old people. I sort of do too. Let's be glad for that, enjoy it while it lasts.
Easy there. The post just asked how old they are, the item didn't have to be very old.
Load More Replies...Ok I'm a gen z and I have seen all of these in my life. It might have been that I went to a broke christian private school but these really arent all that old.
My brother had a bunch of these books. I stuck to Calvin and Hobbes.
Load More Replies...New name for the thread lol: People in their 20's and 30's post nostalgic pictures, pretend that they're "old", and don't realize that 90% of the things are still in use, and kids still know about most of the rest of the stuff haha. Also do people know that gen z started in the mid to late 90's, so many of the older gen zers grew up with millennials and in the 90's?
Millennials started in the late 90s. A lot of gen-z people aren't even adults yet.
Load More Replies...As a Gen-Xer I kind of resent photos and comments that suggest stuff I am perfectly familiar with from my childhood is a hallmark of the next generation! Hey, I'm not THAT old..! :P
"Millennials on Twitter post about how "old" they are" (except for the guy with the glass coke bottle)
I'm 19 and seen it all. It took even 15 years for those things to get to eastern Europe.
Meh. Most of these are not that old. Many are still in use & currently available today.
I liked/commented on all the ones I remember or actually used... I was a teen in the 80s, so I remember quite a few!
I had all but #20 at some point, and I know about #20 because my grandma had the old containers from when she used them. Heck, I have one of her tins of "100% pure MSG" that's empty but is cool looking around here somewhere.
I'm seeing most of these items for the first time and I'm an 80's baby. This is because most of these things did not come to my country and maybe shipping wasn't that prominent back then
I know all of these and i am 14, i remember going to my grandparents house and wanting to watch a movie but the VSH tapes were trouble to figure out
These comments are comforting. I mean, I AM old but this stuff seems awfully recent.
LOL is it bad that I look at some of those and am like that is way too new!
Popples. I had every single one. I also had all of the G.I. Joe action figures. That’s how old I am.
a lot of this stuff is gen z stuff I believe (that's born i the 80's, right ?) so the title's bogus. Also, some of that stuff is typically american, rather than generational.
I haven't seen a single pack of "cigarette gum" since...never mind. ;-)
What about these. I used to collect these in Middle School. SNS-sticke...28f083.jpg
Not sure I understand the competition for remembering the things that are unimportant.
