33 Hyper-Realistic Women In Magazine Poses With Their Flaws And Imperfections That Look Like Photographs
Philipp Weber is a talented artist who paints realistic portraits of women in traditional magazine poses. The artist, who lives and works in Kassel and Berlin, Germany, looks for inner truth so instead of bringing empty perfection to life, he portraits their minor imperfections and their deep human stories—whether that be the sadness in their eyes or wounds on their faces.

Weber’s artistic journey began when he was just a 3-year-old boy and since then, he hasn’t lost his path. Through the years, you can see a clear artistic progression in his works. His inspiration comes from books, movies, fellow artists, other creative people, and people’s personal stories about their lives: the stories that reveal their dreams and aspirations that are beyond fancy faces and flawless skin.

“Philipp started painting when he was 3 years old as a present to give his mum and grandmother to make them happy and smile. He says that he cannot imagine his life without painting. When he was a high school student, he painted portraits that he sold to people directly and made enough money to buy a small car,” says Philipp’s business manager Kiki Kim to Bored Panda.

“Philipp studied his Master’s degree at Berlin University of the Arts and he has always been interested in realistic or super-realistic art, regardless of what stage of his career he has been in, as he believes that his viewers can engage with his paintings the best with a super-realistic art form.”

Share on FacebookI understand the technical skill involved here, but I don't understand some artists (and many non-artists) obsession with photorealism in fine art. Painting, drawing, sculpture, etc. can express so much more than just copying photography. Also...Maybe apply those mad skills to painting something you cannot photograph, and something other than stereotypically beautiful women...
If I could paint that well I would paint things that you couldn't see in real life. Like the things from dreams, I could paint myself or other people with wings or just make beautiful creatures that don't exist. That is real art.
Load More Replies...This guy has great skills! But let's not confuse skills with (artistic) talent.
Load More Replies...If those were real photos instead of "paintings-so-realistic-that-they-look-like-photos", fewer would really care that much. To me personally, extreme realism like this actually diminishes the sense of artistic expression through physical media.
Agreed. If these were photos, they wouldn't be considered especially great and artistic photography. That right there is a good thing to ask whenever you see "photorealistic" painting/drawing. Would it be considered an excellent photo?
Load More Replies...He does an amazing job! But maybe try painting someone other than gorgeous, skinny, young white girls. Maybe he does and those paintings just aren't shown?
Right? But I think he did it because he's so good at making it so realistic. 'Cuz anyone else can make a real-looking flower or butterfly, but only (?) he can make specifically gorgeous, skinny, young white girls.
Load More Replies...Soooooo....he paints super sexy women then adds a small scar as a "flaw"? (And does the one scar look like labia to anyone else?) I have a hard enough time living up to the standard of beauty in the world today. I don't need some guy painting hyper beautiful women that aren't even real.
What "flaws and imperfections" or "inner truth"? These are fantastic works of art but come on, let's call a spade a spade. It's dude who spends his talent drawing sexy women pouting or fighting in paint.
Amen. His talent is incredible. But the images are 14 year old boy (or girl!) fantasies.
Load More Replies...hahahahahahahahahahaha. Needed a longer laugh for "imperfections".
Load More Replies...Princess evokes paintings by Sargent. The artist's work is perfectly done. I'd love to see more soul, some joy, but I can't criticize these.
Painters using their talent to make paintings look real. Photographers using their talent to make photos look unreal. This must have some deep, profound meaning but it pretty much escapes me.
It's about how much skill it takes to reach that. Something super realistic takes a lot of skill in painting, and vice versa, making something look unreal in photography is not an easy task.
Load More Replies...Why do some people have the absolute need to point that hyper-realism isn't "real art"?? Get over it! I celebrate talent. I wouldn't hang these on my wall, but I wouldn't hang any Picassos either. And don't say there's no talent here, just be fair and scroll by.
Amazing... Are there any time lapse videos? I'm having a little trouble believing most of these are paintings!
There is a reason impressionism and other movements were created, because of photos so it would differentiate from it. The artist skill is impressive but i would appreciate it a lot more if it had some unrealistic elements to it.
drawing level "what kind of damned sorcery is this" officially reached.
The fact that they aren't quite 100% convincing as real gives me such a creepy, uncanny valley feeling when I see these posts.
I know people are annoyed that if he was taking pictures, no one would care or that the woman are too beautiful but if he's having fun painting and cresting something he's proud of, respect it. I wouldn't judge another artist unless they were hurting someone or making a negative impact on the art community. This skill is amazing and I don't think I could do this.
He's also calling it "art". It's not. It's cold and mechanical.
Load More Replies...It is impossible to believe these aren't photos... I don't draw realism and I probably won't reach this amount of skill but I definitely know I can improve and maybe even make a living off it one day. Art is my passion and to any artists out there, keep going! You don't even have to use a pencil, art can be anything! Sculpting, painting, photography, music..., etc.
It's all about showing off their technical skills. Not about making art.
these look too much like photos! SO much talent! but i agree with @Becca Gizmo the Squirrel
Hard to believe they're even real. How does he get the shading so...right?
They are well drawn but they are all very similar to each other .A bit boring after you have seen the first two or three.
This is some bs, they just painted sexy women and slapped a tiny scar on that you literally have to look for. >.>
So they have "imperfections" and are "deep" and "scared".
Load More Replies...I am utterly amazed but also puzzled that in almost all the pics the subject has a cut on them somewhere, anyone know why?
Incredible paintings! I didn't see any "flaws and imperfections" though as somebody mindlessly put in the headline. It's art, so everything was chosen to be added by the artist.
So I've been spared the shock of seeing a green painted nipple. Ever since I was introduced to nipples I haven't been shocked by them. From day one, so to say.
It's time to branch out. Fashion models have boring, vapid faces. These are virtually expressionless, you don't get a sense of the person in them at all. There are a LOT more interesting faces in the world than these. ...///... Photorealism is not to my taste. I don't consider it art - just very expert copying.
