With all that's been in the news lately, one can easily think that humans are just the Earth's waste. And while that probably applies to some of us, there are plenty of awesome people as well. At least that is what the subreddit r/HumansAreMetal is trying to prove. With over 539,000 members, the community is sharing random acts of kindness and heroism in hopes of restoring our hope in humanity. From honoring firefighters who lost their lives during 9/11 to car crash survivors showing the lifesaving effects of seatbelts, it is doing one heck of a job, too. Someone Make This Into A Movie Right Now!
"The aim of our community is to showcase just how bad*ss humans really are," a moderator of the subreddit, Stuttero, told Bored Panda. "In a sentence, it's a place for people doing bad*ss things."
Stuttero said that a lot of the long-time members of the sub are also big fans of our sister communities, r/natureismetal and r/natureisbrutal, "which both showcase similar content to r/HumansAreMetal, albeit with animals/wildlife instead of humans, and slightly more graphic content in the case of the latter - most of the team definitely do believe that the more gory content is viewed really well by the community."
The moderator highlighted that shared interests really are key to building a good, strong Reddit community. "It's been clear to us for as long as we've been here that the people make the community what it is—it's for this reason that we really try to give people a fair amount of latitude to post what interests them and the wider community—one thing for sure is that we wouldn't be where we are today without them."

As for the people in the pictures, they couldn't have done all these wonderful things if it wasn't for their ability to recognize, understand, and share the thoughts and feelings of others. Empathy is crucial for behaving compassionately—it allows us to experience another person's point of view, rather than just our own, and enables us to do good not because we have to but because we want to. Because we know it's what has to be done.
We, humans, begin to show signs of empathy in infancy and the trait develops steadily through childhood and adolescence. Yes, most of us are likely to feel greater empathy for people like ourselves and may feel less empathy for those outside our family, community, or race but it also allows us to bridge these gaps.
First responders, humanitarian aid workers, doctors, therapists, journalists, and others whose work involves opening themselves up to people's pain tend to be especially empathic. However, they need to watch out because all the heartbreak of those they help or whose stories they record can accumulate and when this "emotional residue" gets big enough, they may shut down, burn out, and become less willing or able to give of themselves.

Stuttero added that the same moderation team runs five communities all centered around a main common interest—our natural world, with the primary, largest communities being r/NatureIsFu*kingLit and r/natureismetal. They also operate r/natureisbrutal, r/naturewasmetal, and r/HumansAreMetal.
"Each one has quite a unique content specialization, but there's sure to be something for everyone in one of our communities. Between the communities, we have been very grateful to have been able to raise tens of thousands of dollars for animal and nature-orientated charities, along with hosting AMAs (public Q&A type sessions) with figures from all over the animal and nature-based world. We've also teamed up with other communities, charities, and organisations across not just Reddit but all over the Internet as part of events such as Superb Owl Sunday, and we regularly hold image and video contests," the moderator said.

I just can't think of a KKK member as anything other than a pathetic, terrified bully. Doesn't make them any less dangerous, but I just can't take a person seriously who wears a button up bed sheet and a cone on their head because they're scared shitless of the righteous anger of a minority.

That Guy Is Right
I'm conflicted over this one. I'm not in favor of people taking justice in their own hands. But when the system fails you... what would you do? Especially in cases as gruesome as this one... Was he right to shoot this man down? Maybe he could have recorded the conversation... I don't know. His little girl didn't have her father from 6 to 19... That's quite a heavy consequence even if he did was felt right. But it was also a radical way to prevent this man from abusing more children.
Recording the conversation wouldn't have helped. Inadmissible in court since he didn't consent to being recorded and it took place in his own home. I get what you're saying, but the recording would have done no one any good. Personally I would have suggested beating the s**t out of him until he was only half dead since that's a lesser prison term, but his size would have made that difficult. That being said, this isn't taking justice into their own hands. This is taking revenge because there is no justice. The guy doesn't seem to have any illusions about that.
Load More Replies...Not all pedophiles are child molesters. Child molesters deserve to be punished, pedophiles who are not molesters need therapy.
Load More Replies...To those raped children, knowing the monster is dead is great peace of mind. I’m not advocating one way or the other, I just know, to those children and their families, justice was done because the perpetrator took the innocence, security, everything a child should have growing up and destroyed it.
Wait a f*****g minute. So they did not have enough evidence and LATER they searched his house. Shouldn't they have done it, like, a LOT sooner?!?!
Based on this story, I'm guessing that this happened in the U.S. The police are stupid and don't listen to the girls or women who get raped. They hesitate to arrest a man because of the stupid patriarchy going on here in this country.
Load More Replies...I'm in no way condoning this, but 13 years? If the child had shot the man, it would be self-defense with most likely very minimal consequences, right? So how did a man protecting his child, who was taunted by the scum, rate such a long sentencing, especially since the police found evidence that it wasn't an isolated incident and indicated that he never would have stopped? Even if he showed little remorse, how could a jury not see that this wasn't the action of a man who would make a habit of killing people if he had been free to go about his life?
A jury is made up of random citizens. Even just the opinions here vary greatly. Some states have a minimum sentence, some people believe you just can't kill someone outright and not go to jail. That's how, I think.
Load More Replies...no, don't kill all the paedos. Kill all the child molesters. They are not the same thing. Kill the child molesters, get help for the paedophiles who don't molest children.
Load More Replies...I would have done the same. NO ONE will ever harm my kids and get away with it. If the law won't do their job properly I will. The man should have been given a medal not jail time.
I agree he should have been pardoned once they found the tapes.
Load More Replies...Every parent´s worst nigtmare is someone hurting their children, Once they see it coming true there is nothing else to lose or to be afraid of, not even prison. So I, as a mother, understand his anger. I am sorry for the molester´s daughter, but the victim is not less important.
like i said before the spirit of vengeance. i think he did what was right. if i was police i would of let it go. he deserved it
kind of sad for the fact that your daughter grow up without her dad. but kind proud by the fact that you could tell you daughter that his father had her back. no boyfriend of her would mistreated her knowing her dad kill her molester
Yes it is sad. But at least that monster could not hurt another child again.
Load More Replies...The police could have at least arrested him and search his house... They'd have found the proof they needed.
But they didn't. And this father did what he felt was necessary given the circumstances. I'm not saying he was right, but if someone had done that to someone I love, I might make the same choice.

Load More Replies...Holy f*ck, a 6yo "asked for it"...how? Did she explicitly enunciated the intention to partake in sexual intercourse? Holy f*ck, this is too much... :(
I wouldn't try this at home, but this is seriously really brave. He's a good dad
This is the scariest thing in the world to me. I know I would do the same thing if anyone touched my daughter!
love, I would also protect my child to the upmost. my child is my life blood
Has this ever happened to anyone if it has im very sorry and hope you are okay
I was raped by 2 boys I was at school with when I was 15. They both burnt to death in a road traffic accident, Karma prevailed.
Load More Replies...This man is a hero. There was a similar story in Germany in 1981. A known sex-offender abducted a 7 year old, held her for hours, raped her and then strangled her. The mother smuggled a gun into the courtroom and shot him. The best part? She was not convicted for murder, but for manslaughter. She got 6 years, but only served three! The entire country was behind her.
Idiot Ryukei Panda, what the f**k do you do to a man who GODDAMN MOTHERF***ING MOLESTED YOUR CHILD? HUH? A SMUGGLER GETS 5 YEARS TO JAIL, AND, A CHILD MOLESTER GETS 3 YEARS. EVEN THOUGH HIS CHILD DID NOT HAVE HIM FROM 6-19, SHE CONSOLED HERSELF ON THE SITUATION THAT HER FATHER WAS A BRAVE MAN WHO KILLED A B***H THAT MOLESTS CHILDREN!
He’s the best father in the world. He rid the world of a vile pedophile. He deserves a medal not jail! I wish there were more people willing to rid the world of pedophiles. They barely get jail time. It’s the lowest thing you can do, violate an innocent child. You steal their innocence! I love this man.
I have heard that pedophiles are treated even worse than cops in jail. Between guys that feel like the father in the article above and prisoners that were abused themselves as children - the pedophiles that are locked up get payback.
Load More Replies...This hurts me to read, people who abuse children need to die. I will not treat them as my equal. Horrible!
Can anyone find an article about this? I've looked, but only found this similar story. But different circumstances and outcome. https://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/20/us/father-not-charged-in-killing-of-man-molesting-his-daughter-5.html
Great point, always keep in mind the internet is fuull of lies, and this is a sensational story. I don't want to look to confirm such an oogie story :X, and that's what the author could be counting on.
Load More Replies...I wished that someone did that to my ex husband....he molested my daughter and got smacked on the hand and did a little therapy. No justice
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you and your daughter are okay or will be some day.
Load More Replies...If I thought I could get away with it, I'd spend all my time hunting down child abusers and shooting them.
I think murder is justified if it is against that kind of crime.
F**k that salute to you my brother!! Sorry you had to do time! If I was on that jury I would have acquitted!! Me I would have tortured that bastard for weeks then killed him!!
I blame the police here as well. The little girl was obviously raped ... said who did it ... they didn’t arrest him. Sounds like he had some friends in town! System was definitely against them. Personally ... I’d have shot him in the balls first ... let him suffer for a minute ... then in the head! Her father is definitely her hero.
Put yourself in the dad's shoes. I as a mom, would have done the same thing. And I would be proud to defend the people who can't ALL PEDOS should die - test on them not animals. Crash test dummies no more - use pedo's F them
Please use the term child molester. Not all people who have sick perverted sexual desires actually act on them and hurt children.
Load More Replies...I read about this. Why the police said they didn’t have enough evidence is in itself is a crime! They deserve to be in a civil suit, as her actions are the result of their inaction.
Nope deciding you are judge jury and executioner isnt metal. Metsl would have been seeing the e law take its course and the rapist in a cell for his whole life
That sadly was not going happen as the police didn't investigate properly. At least this way he could no longer hurt a child.
Load More Replies...I'm not conflicted, everyone says they'd do it for their kid. You did. I'm only sorry u spent 1 day in prison for it.
Medical castration is much "better" than death. It hurts like hell and can give serious health issues. That way he suffers for longer, than just getting shot dead? Also... there are probably many more pedophiles out there, than we know about. Many of them don't do anything about their urges.
Medical castration does not work well for everyone in the long run.
Load More Replies...He paid the price for the justice he served up. His little girl may not have had him around, but she knew he would not hesitate to stand up for her. These crimes are altogether too common. I can't be unemotional about this one.
I think this also proves because of American gun laws, how easy it is there for someone to execute someone...I'm not saying he didn't deserve it but all the comments on here "I would do the same" is just bravado....especially from people living in the UK. Does anyone know any more on this story? I'm fascinated now...
I can kill someone just as quickly with a small little knife. And very quietly with just a little gurgling.
Load More Replies...I understand the rage. But i am also thinking about terrified wife and daughter who had to go upstairs and hear their father and husband being shot... Is nobody gonna talk about their trauma???
Oh come on, the father was a complete monster who propably tortured his own family too. And even he had miraculously been a good husband and father, it is still better that he's dead so he can no longer hurt a child.
Load More Replies...Why "justice for their fathers"? It's mot the father that's harmed in a rape. Maybe his pride if you view his daughter's value is contingent upon her virginity
I feel like its sad that he killed another man that had a wife and a young daughter
Who did he do it for? His daughter? I think she would've preferred to have her dad around.....he did this to satisfy his own need for vengeance because he feels emasculated...a very sad story
Yes. He did it for his daughter. Law enforcement wouldn't give him the punishment he needed so the dad stepper up and did a heroic thing. Who knows how many other little girls he would've hurt if nothing had been done about it. Plus he said that she asked for it so that's game over for anyone with common sense. Also, don't shame him for going to jail, shame whoever threw him in jail instead of giving him a billion dollars and a bunch of honorary titles and medals and other rewards like that
Load More Replies...Probably did considering he was most likely raping her as well so it was the last time she would be abused by this piece of filth. A pedophile is the lowest and deserves death.
Load More Replies...My (now ex) husband and I once talked about hyperthetical incidents; I would have done the same; better that my daughter grew up with one parent than have a rapist/child molester go free. They deserve to die, there is no place in society for paedophiles and rapists.

On 26 September 1983, three weeks after the Soviet military had shot down Korean Air Lines Flight 007, Petrov was the duty officer at the command center for the Oko nuclear early-warning system when the system reported that a missile had been launched from the United States, followed by up to five more. Petrov judged the reports to be a false alarm, and his decision to disobey orders, against Soviet military protocol, is credited with having prevented an erroneous retaliatory nuclear attack on the United States and its NATO allies that could have resulted in a large-scale nuclear war. An investigation later confirmed that the Soviet satellite warning system had indeed malfunctioned. Without him, it's likely NONE OF US would be here to read about him.
These are some truly incredible, inspiring and extremely strong people. Well done to them and their amazing efforts/achievements. One that is was surprised that didn’t get a mention was Desmond Doss. He was a combat medic who refused to kill anyone or carry a weapon due to his beliefs. The military tried to force him to quit and when that didn’t work they tried to court martial him for refusing a direct order to hold a gun but his religious freedoms saved him from dishonourable discharge and he was allowed on the front lines. During an ambush by the Japanese soldiers on top of Hacksaw Ridge ALL the US soldiers (that were able) started retreating back down the cliff, except one. Desmond Dodd went searching for anyone still alive and sending them down the cliff to safety. He saved 75 people that day, when the US soldiers stormed Hacksaw ridge slowly taking over Okinawa, Desmond Dodd’s was wounded severely from a Japanese grenade and as he was trying to get to safety he was shot by a sniper. Even when he was severely injured he told the ‘litter-bearers’ to take another man to safety first before rescuing him. He literally would choose to die just so another can live. He died at the age of 87 after his ONLY lung failed as he had one of his lungs (and 5 ribs) were removed approx 50 years prior after suffering tuberculosis.
