Someone Points Out That Humans Are Capable Of Hysterical Strength And People Share Stories
Tumblr is a bubbling pot of content, varying from endless text posts of different assortment to hilarious (or at times offensive) memes to millions of photos. You can find almost anything you’re looking for, although might come across something that you never even wanted to see. And while posts on that social media platform can swing from one extreme to another, it is no secret that there are times where people unite to create something great. Weave words into a strong message or create a funny story out of a single hint.
Well, one user followed the example of hundreds before them and created a funny fictional conversation between a human and an alien. The exchange focuses on one aspect of humans that the extraterrestrial friend seems to be completely flabbergasted by – human strength.
One Tumblr user decided to creatively share how human strength works in a fictional exchange between a human and an alien

What the original author is referring to in the funny exchange is actually called hysterical strength. It’s a phenomenon where people exhibit extreme strength, far beyond what is regarded as normal. It usually occurs in life-and-death situations, like mothers lifting cars to save their children or people fighting off wild animals.
While the feat itself is quite fascinating and might remind one of all the superheroes on TV, it is also a good reminder that humans have their limits, after all. Hysterical strength can result in serious damage to one’s body from excertion.
Here’s what people had to say in response to the original post

While most people expressed their opinions, this person decided to share their personal experience

Share on FacebookAs a kid I got stuck between elevator doors and the elevator shaft. My dad (50 year old chubby dude) separated the lift from the shaft by hand to create enough space to pull me out. I had nothing, he split an eye by the immense pressure his body gave. His eye was replaced by a prostatic.
whats up with everyone calling this stuff boring/lame? Fighting polar bears isn't somthing most people would consider "lame"
It's "lame" because polar bear fights happen so often here in Florida that nobody even notices them any more.

no one's going to comment on the guy who got stabbed while his younger brother broke a pickle jar? Did the pickle jar stab him? was it an intruder? I need more information.
I was wondering that too. Maybe he accidentally did it, sounds like two kids in the kitchen unsupervised.

In 7th grade we watched a documentary on muscles and how incredible they are. One story was about a guy who was rock climbing with his friend and suddenly he lost his balance, tried to grab onto a rock but the rock broke and then he’s on the ground (a wide ledge only a couple of feet below him). Somehow he manages to use his arms and lift this giant rock (that weighed something like half a ton) just above his ribs so it wouldn’t crish them, but at the same time he was sliding down toward a several hundred foot drop. He managed to throw the rock over the cliff and not fall, but he got severe injuries in his arm muscles.
After all this time now I know the reason why this boulder fall. giphy-5c61...f58722.gif

Giving birth. I know women have been doing this for thousands and thousands of years, but still.
I'm surprised no mentioned this is what the 70s Incredible Hulk was about. In the pilot Dr. David Banner is looking into this exact phenomena.
Normally we can only use a certain amount of our strength to not harm ourselves, but in panic we can use way more, it can however result in torn muscles and bruicing, but thats how we are made to be able to save ourselves for when our life depends on it.
I agree, it's definitely real, i once bit too much skin from the side of my finger nail and then used some scissors, the fight is real.
I remember one time I had an adrenaline rush because me and my friend got stuck on the floor in a bus seat and I was like woah, I'm strong but I felt bad because me and my friend were tangled together and I was hurting her but I was on panic superhero mode or whatever so it was hard not to ;c I'll probably have nightmares about broken teeth and bending in weird angles now and I'm afraid to go to sleep because of that..
Um, all of this has been scientifically proven time and time again. Did you even bother to research?
