The Rain Finally Pours Down In Australia Putting Out Over 30 Deadly Bushfires
The moment that the whole world has been waiting for has finally come around – Australia received heavy rain, severe thunderstorms, and flash floods. The downpours have already helped to extinguish 32 bushfires in New South Wales alone as the number of fires fell from 120 to 88 on Thursday. The Bureau of Meteorology are expecting 30-80mm worth of rain in the east of New South Wales between Thursday and Sunday. People are speculating that it might finally bring relief to the exhausted firefighters who have battled the deadly flames for over three months now.

The local Meteorology Bureau reports that there were some “good falls” in the state of New South Wales – part of the country where many of the worst bushfires occurred. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service shared a video of the rainfall and wrote: “Relief is here for a number of firefighters working across NSW. Although this rain won’t extinguish all the fires, it will certainly go a long way towards containment.”
More wet weather is forecast which may finally bring relief to exhausted firefighters

The Meteorology Bureau also reported, “The hit & miss nature of thunderstorms means it’s difficult to forecast exactly where the heaviest rain will be—some parts of bushfire & drought-affected eastern Australia could see 50–100 mm over the next few days; while others may see very little.”

The regions of New South Wales and Victoria have received approximately 15mm of rain that was so desperately needed this Wednesday and Thursday. The severe thunderstorms have also caused flooding in Melbourne. While the rain has dampened the fires, more than 80 of them continue burning in the New South Wales area and 18 of them in Victoria.

Share on FacebookI live in an apartment complex in Sydney, with 4 other complexes at the neighbouring properties. In effect, all of our 'backyards' are facing eachother. The rain began, and it was so amusing / wonderful to see all the arms sticking out from the balconies, feeling the rain. It is a WELCOME relief, and regardless of the need for umbrellas, and wet feet getting to work... we are all hoping for more rain (but not to the point of flooding, if that's ok with the deities...?)
Bit like us Brits but in reverse.....ohh look the sun is out.
Load More Replies...Our frogs have started croaking. It's feels like a real summer now, with rain and humidity.
Unfortunately the huge downpour has and will bring its own issues like flash flooding, landslides and severe water contamination. So whilst yes the rain has helped greatly in putting out a few fires, sadly it was just too much all at once. And we have well over 150 fires STILL burning across the country.
Thank God!! Literally! And Thank you to all the people, firefighters, rangers, wildlife activists and locals. May you all be safe & recover!!
This kind of news I was waiting. I was reading all kinds of stuff about Australia Fires waiting for this.
At least some of the fires are gone! Thank you Jesus, and I pray that they will continue to be put out!
Grateful for the rain. My neighbour and I dancing in it. There are about 80 fires still going in Vic. Better than over 100 tho'. Sadly rain can make conditions worse, as mudslides happen and burnt trees fall over. This is not over. Dam may get clogged by ash running off with the rain. Still praying for more rain. * dunno who or what I pray to, but still praying.
This is incredible!!!!! hopefully all the hurt animals and people are making a fast recovery!
After doing some reaserch on past climate, I think we are past the point of no return. The hot spots are affecting Antartica's climate which is the engine of this planet
Usually I absolutely despise rain (and getting splashed in general but let's focus on the rain) but then it started raining real hard so my brother and I threw on our coats, I grabbed my brolly and we headed out for a walk to the park and it was so amazing! A walk with no smoke and what's more, rain!
I'm happy that you are getting rain, however l know you have a long way to go.. too much rain could cause flooding etc. I feel so terrible for you, donated money for trees, animals that's all l can do. Canada
Wouldn't it be cheaper to build water desalination facilities and water all that dried out land? Good for animals, growing also food, avoiding yearly millions of damage
Desalination is extremely expensive and detrimental to the environment. One of the causes for fires is said to be poor land/forrest management, perhaps improving that would be a place to start.
Load More Replies...This is a reason I always hate when people talk about "good" and "bad" weather. There isn't good or bad weather. The weather just is. The only time weather is bad is when it's extreme, no matter is it's extreme dry, extreme wet, extreme hot or extreme cold and when it's unusual for that time of the year at that place (on Arktis and Antarktis extreme cold isn't bad weather). And, sadly, we can expect more weather extremes as the climate change progresses
Can this Brit ask a question, please? Now you are recovering a bit...what is planned for restoring the forests? What can I do to help? Love to you all from Yorkshire in England
Everything has a balance... Just enough rain for you Australians and the animals! I hope this stops for them and wish nothing but the best.

Load More Replies...It's good to have some rain. I would be partying like a rock star in that rain!!!!
What? Not one "praise god" for merciful rain? Maybe people are still asking god why people and millions of animals were burned.
Praise the lord guys and keep him in your prayers ,he blessed Australia with much needed water !!!! Know the Lord and acknowledge him in your hearts and minds.
when the entire world prays/wishes/desires the same thing...it matters
What about the people that were living on the beaches after evacuating? Are they still there or do they have shelter? I hope so
Finally God's hand in this tragedy! Hopefully, all the animals will finally be safe now and won't have to flee their homes.
