This was with Google about twenty years ago. Before phones. Do these still work the same way today?

I thought using quotation marks, especially around a phrase, meant the search would find things that contained that exact phrase. In this instance, searching for "I love you" will ignore the text that says "I know that my love for you will endure." All three words are there in that order, but are not the phrase. Even if this is not correct, searching for BROWN SONGBIRDS gets a different result from "BROWN SONGBiRDS" (caps are for emphasis only). Can someone clarify please?
