I was never a skinny person and I’ve always been overweight. Kids were constantly picking on me and calling me names. All of this was traumatizing, but one school’s sports event took the whole teasing thing to another level.

All it takes is one person to make a difference in someone's life. Kudos to your crush for suggesting you talk to the principal and kudos to your principal for taking immediate action! As soon as I heard you say the teacher forcibly took your shirt off..I thought "that's assault!" And a big congrats on taking this negative and turning it into a positive! You give the rest of us strength and hope!!
I'm surprised that your mother gave you such a small and tight bather. What was her problem? If she had taken the time to help you find a decent sized and one-piece suit, this all might not have happened. But well done to you for not letting that rotten teacher crush you. And well done to your crush for being so understanding.
I suspect mother had not really been paying correct sort of attention to kid... for quite a while.

Stories like this are nice but for every kid that pulls it together because people believed them there's a dozen that don't because people didn't. The entire "bullying/abuse made me stronger" narrative would only work in a world with a lower suicide rate.
This is true. I hate this " what doesnt kill me makes me stronger".. 1 - people do suicide over this horror. 2 - people are left with horrible scars / maiming , visible and invisible.

Now, this is a very troubling story, on quite a few levels. The object of your anger is the teacher who got sacked and fined, even though he was, granted, not in a nice way, the real reason for why you finally decided to tackle your out-of-control weight problem. The people, yes, people, you ought to have some beef with, are your parents. I say your parents, but let me include your grandparents and whoever else you regularly had around you as a child. I do not say 'mother', well, because she is only one of probably quite a few people Who Ought To Have Been There For You Before Your Weight Became A Burden. It may well have started with someone giving you some favorite sweet or snack every time you fell and hurt yourself as a toddler, but never mind how your overindulgence in food came about, your parents ought to have gotten in touch with both nutritionists and psychologists to help you. A child at 300 lbs is not right. It should be cause for alarm. Obesity shortens life expectancy.
So come on and downvote me for this. It is child abuse to not care if your child is obese, to allow it to happen in the first place, and not to do anything about it when it is a fact! There is professional help.

How you've turned thins around after that horrible experience is brilliant. You are obviously brave and resilient and I'm glad that you feel healthier and more confident now that you've lost weight. That being said, the sentence 'I'm not going to stop' worries me a bit. I know it's hard but please try to remember that you will achieve your ideal healthy weight. When someone has an over eating problem it is easy to turn it into an under eating problem. Both stem from a need for comfort and control. Too small is just as dangerous as too big and (in my experience) can be a harder cycle to break. Look after yourself and keep being healthy. From an anorexia survivor.
I wish the principle or *anyone* gave you the support you needed. Without it all having to get so bad. Respect for your bravery in talking to him.
