We've had couples sharing their versions of the meme, as well as artists, pilots, and pretty much all kinds of folks celebrating their life achievements. Now, pet owners are hijacking it. A lot of these memes focus on the recoveries neglected animal went through after finding their forever homes. Which is great. Caring for a companion animal goes far beyond providing food, water, and shelter. So seeing people putting in the effort to make the critters enjoy life is really awesome.

Around 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters every year (of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats). However, the good news is that experts estimate that this number has steadily declined from annually has declined from approximately 7.2 million in 2011.
