This one is even more baffling than cinnamon. "Well, John appears to have died after eating one. But there's just GOT to be a way to prepare those green squash testicles so we could all enjoy them."

Grammar Nazi here. Its actually Brussels Sprouts, as in the city of Brussels.

Not really. It is original Dutch food. It is called Brussels Sprouts only the way the Belgium people cook it. And that's very different from the Dutch people!

Yes, they look like this. Except, when ours grew, there were larger spaces between the sprouts and it had a denser crown. Creatures of all sorts will use this as a shade tree.

These I've wrestled with every Fall. You can buy them like this, but they're hard to store in the refrigerator!

I know they grey like this because I have seen stores who sell them on the stalks.

I remember picking these as a child. Apparently they taste sweeter after the first frost.

I feel less stupid. This one I actually had seen and grown on my own before.

And that's why saffron is so scary expensive. There are only two stamens per crocus, and they have to be carefully harvested by hand, one at a time.

It probably why dragon fruits are expensive. You have to fight a cactus to get one.

The little green flower buds are the capers. The small unripe fruits are eaten too. In Dutch they are called 'caper-apples'.
