My favorite section of the 'Guinness World Records' book was always the biggest things. I marveled at the Blue Whale, the skyscrapers vying for the world's tallest and trucks with wheels the size of a house.
The most important part, the thing that really makes you say 'wow' is the scale. You can't really appreciate the sheer size of something unless something familiar is placed alongside it for comparison. We here at Bored Panda have compiled a list of things that are even bigger than you probably thought. From wombats to wolves, these 'big' things are actually freaking huge! I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm Australian and that is an abnormally large wombat. Usually, they're about the size of a corgi.
The female ones are the size of a large korgi. This is a male.

That is Patrick the wombat. He lived in Ballarat Wildlife Park, Victoria, Australia. He was the largest wombat in captivity. He died last year. I know this because I live in Ballarat and I recognise his hair, the woman and the background. Patrick was loved.😞❤️

They are responsible for more auto accidents than any other animal in Australia. Their back is solid and when they are hit by a car, the car may flip over or otherwise crash, leaving the wombat unscathed. They do walk near and on roadways, and are a big source of car wrecks.

This is the oldest wombat in Australian zoos. I think his name is Henry, and he's not just old, he's also fat -- not that that lessens his adorableness! He gets his daily "walk" by riding around in a wheelbarrow. So freaking cute!

This is a big teddy bear that is alive ! Cute, hug gable, cute, cuddly.
Well, he looks a tad bigger because of the camera angle...he is closer to the cam than the person holding him, hence the proportions are somewhat distorted. Nonetheless, they are quite large. They can charge you from behind and bowl you right over....though little (not so little) fellers...lol

Actually not the tallest anymore. All of the tallest trees in the world are indeed giant sequoias, but Hyperion outranks the General Sherman by far (379.7 ft for Hyperion, compared to 275 ft for General Sherman). Helios was discovered in 2006. I don't believe it's location has been revealed to the public.

Thought provoking. We think of ourselves as the biggest and best - and indeed some of the man-made items are huge, but nature does well too. There seems to be a template for mammals and each species is tweaked slightly to make it individual.

While the idea first appeared on Buzzfeed, it looks like they just took the photos from a subreddit without doing further research. Bored Panda has done extensive research and has collected more pictures. By the way, Buzzfeed copies Bored Panda's posts all the time (never crediting us, even after we contact them), so it works both ways. The difference is we invest more time and try to do posts better
