32 Things That Are Surprisingly Bigger Than You Probably Thought
My favorite section of the 'Guinness World Records' book was always the biggest things. I marveled at the Blue Whale, the skyscrapers vying for the world's tallest and trucks with wheels the size of a house.
The most important part, the thing that really makes you say 'wow' is the scale. You can't really appreciate the sheer size of something unless something familiar is placed alongside it for comparison. We here at Bored Panda have compiled a list of things that are even bigger than you probably thought. From wombats to wolves, these 'big' things are actually freaking huge! Scroll down to check them out for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments!

A Full Grown Wombat
Giant Leatherback Sea Turtle
This looks like it's been set up as a perspective trick, like she's actually much further up the beach to make it look bigger. Would be cool to see one with a better angle
No, where I live the Leatherback comes to lay it's eggs, and trust me, they really are HUGE. Beautifull animals, but this is not a trick of perspective, they really are giants :)
Load More Replies...We vacationed in NC years ago and did a sun-up, four-wheeler beach tour, one of these amazing creatures was washed up dead on the beach, I had no clue there were species of sea turtles hattgot so big, I was in aw!
They are ancient and wise navigators of the ocean. Beautiful beyond words and actually very social. ❤
WOW the size of the baby turtles should have no problem making it across the sand and into the ocean.
Would like to see the new turtles running to the sea, or the size of the eggs.
Not a good image to show the size, as we don't know how far away the girl is.
This is a photography trick called forced perspective. It is deliberately misleading.
Very un-informative pic, size-wise. Without seeing her feet I cannot understand where she's standing and therefore the girl-turtle ratio. It's entirely possible to snap a pic like that using a 2 cm long baby turtle but I assume that wasn't supposed to be the case?
Leatherbacks lay their eggs where I live and I don't understand with what this lady should help? Help her getting the eggs out? Help her dig a hole for her nest? You should not disturb them when they come to the shore, but once they started laying their eggs you can get closer, but be carefull. One person is not a problem, it's a problem when a whole group of people bothers the turtle. The biggest problem is not people who want to see a Leatherback in real life for once in their lifetime, the biggest problem are the criminal stealing the eggs and selling them on the black market because stupid people think it's a delicacy even thought the animal is an endangered species.

Wtf are you here then
Waiting for something really interesting. Do I need to spell it out for you? And why the f do you care?
Nice series actually!
That was really interesting! Great list!
A lot of surprises.(To me anyway.) Good stuff.
I watch documentaries all the time and always wish for "perspective" when they say how large something is. Thank you for this article.
@FaqirAfaq What, your ego? Or the level of magnification on that telescope?
Learned a lot from these. Nice!
These articles are why I love BP so much - such great pics! Thanks!
I really enjoyed this one
These are all really cool, some I knew, some really stopped me in my tracks. Awesome!
Thats big
So did Buzzfeed steal this list from BoredPanda, or did BoredPanda steal it from Buzzfeed?
beeg yoshi
Am I the only one who looked at the title and immediately giggled? Sounds so wrong.
Really interesting :D
Absolute unit.
Thought provoking. We think of ourselves as the biggest and best - and indeed some of the man-made items are huge, but nature does well too. There seems to be a template for mammals and each species is tweaked slightly to make it individual.
Actually a pretty interesting post! Thanks :) now we need small stuff!!
i just need to get some better glasses - so i can read the replies
Wow!

I hope I don't sound rude, but this is copied word for word from buzzfeed just a few days ago. https://www.buzzfeed.com/daves4/wow-thats-big?utm_term=.sxBMQ4KxOv#.sbld5KmZD1 bored panda should at least reference it..
While the idea first appeared on Buzzfeed, it looks like they just took the photos from a subreddit without doing further research. Bored Panda has done extensive research and has collected more pictures. By the way, Buzzfeed copies Bored Panda's posts all the time (never crediting us, even after we contact them), so it works both ways. The difference is we invest more time and try to do posts better
Cool. Just work on your headings...
