My favorite section of the 'Guinness World Records' book was always the biggest things. I marveled at the Blue Whale, the skyscrapers vying for the world's tallest and trucks with wheels the size of a house.

The most important part, the thing that really makes you say 'wow' is the scale. You can't really appreciate the sheer size of something unless something familiar is placed alongside it for comparison. We here at Bored Panda have compiled a list of things that are even bigger than you probably thought. From wombats to wolves, these 'big' things are actually freaking huge! Scroll down to check them out for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments!

This looks like it's been set up as a perspective trick, like she's actually much further up the beach to make it look bigger. Would be cool to see one with a better angle

No, where I live the Leatherback comes to lay it's eggs, and trust me, they really are HUGE. Beautifull animals, but this is not a trick of perspective, they really are giants :)

They are ancient and wise navigators of the ocean. Beautiful beyond words and actually very social. ❤

WOW the size of the baby turtles should have no problem making it across the sand and into the ocean.

Would like to see the new turtles running to the sea, or the size of the eggs.

Not a good image to show the size, as we don't know how far away the girl is.

Very un-informative pic, size-wise. Without seeing her feet I cannot understand where she's standing and therefore the girl-turtle ratio. It's entirely possible to snap a pic like that using a 2 cm long baby turtle but I assume that wasn't supposed to be the case?

They used to be covered in smooth white limestone with a gold cap. Imagine being an ancient and coming across this thing at a time when people had never seen anything really taller than a tree. You'd be amazed. Wow!

Actually not the tallest anymore. All of the tallest trees in the world are indeed giant sequoias, but Hyperion outranks the General Sherman by far (379.7 ft for Hyperion, compared to 275 ft for General Sherman). Helios was discovered in 2006. I don't believe it's location has been revealed to the public.

This is a bit arbitrary. Surely, comets are larger than steroids, which are larger than meteorits, but the size stil can vary by many kilometres in diameter.

I was just reading in a book last night about medicine, and when a scientist from the mid 1800's couldn't get a human foot to dissect, he got a bear's foot and did it instead, since they are so similar. It was someone famous, but now I cannot recall who it was.

Are these the cables used for Internet? You guys do realize that our entire WWW is connected via the oceans, underground, and NOT by satellites right? You can see the map of the cables that go across the ocean floors.... there are not that many of them. It's amazing!
