My favorite section of the 'Guinness World Records' book was always the biggest things. I marveled at the Blue Whale, the skyscrapers vying for the world's tallest and trucks with wheels the size of a house.
The most important part, the thing that really makes you say 'wow' is the scale. You can't really appreciate the sheer size of something unless something familiar is placed alongside it for comparison. We here at Bored Panda have compiled a list of things that are even bigger than you probably thought. From wombats to wolves, these 'big' things are actually freaking huge! Scroll down to check them out for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Hey, that's Alaska! I recognize our license plates. And that's a pretty dang big bull. Most of the ones running around town aren't quite that large.
You say that like giant moose just walk around town casually, making small talk with passerby
Load More Replies...They kill more people than bears. And while you may hit a deer with a car and survive, if you hit a moose, you're dead instantly.
We were riding motorcycles through Alaska and headed back home through the Yukon Territory, running along a wide open and quiet highway early one morning. An oncoming semi truck flashed his lights and suddenly there was something right in front of him, I honestly didn't think it was an animal because it was so big. My brain finally realized it was a moose - one tall enough to be looking in the cab right at the driver. We'd seen tons of moose before this, but none up close and none this large. It was mind-boggling.
On a fishing trip in Alaska we where driving around all pissed off at the slow driving locals. We asked our guide why people did 15 under the speed limit and he just said "Moose" we saw a photo collection at a local gas station after that showed the aftermath of a impact and its ALL BAD. We drove really slow after that
I never realized how enormous moose are until I moved to Alaska. I was attending the University of Alaska at the time, and another student got trampled to death by a moose on campus, no lie. People would warn you constantly about running into them on the road, because apparently their eyes don't reflect light, so you might not see them in the dark (I never have verified that that's true; it's just what I was told).
That's a low average for a male. 1,500 lbs. is on the high end of average with 1,800 being the highest recorded kill.
Load More Replies...They are big dumb animals. But they'll feed a family for some time.

This is normal in Canada. They eat jack o lanterns off porches during Halloween
I want to train one like a horse and we could be best friends and eat bfast together and cuddle and.....
Good luck friend, moose are traditionally super aggressive and territorial.
Load More Replies...Don't think this is their normal size. This is one A&F model on steroids!
No, that's nothing unusual for a moose. I've seen my father drop bigger with 1 shot. It's tougher getting a tag for one now unless you go out of state or to Alaska. But moose can fend off Grizzly bears with a flick of their head. I've seen a moose toss a grizzly into the air by scooping it up and heaving it with it's massive head.
Load More Replies...It's not photoshopped. There's literally nothing exciting about this picture other than it's a moose walking around parked cars. Besides, you can take any legit picture and post it online and have people say it's fake, that doesn't mean it is. Not to mention what would be the point with this pic? That's not even close to how big other moose look. So it would be going out of the way to show how big the animal is when there are bigger moose to be seen. Moose can toss grizzly bears like they're a rag doll, that should tell you how big and strong they are. They're also stupid aggressive and territorial.

The Largest Tree In The World
Actually not the tallest anymore. All of the tallest trees in the world are indeed giant sequoias, but Hyperion outranks the General Sherman by far (379.7 ft for Hyperion, compared to 275 ft for General Sherman). Helios was discovered in 2006. I don't believe it's location has been revealed to the public.

Bear Claws Next To Human Hand
I was just reading in a book last night about medicine, and when a scientist from the mid 1800's couldn't get a human foot to dissect, he got a bear's foot and did it instead, since they are so similar. It was someone famous, but now I cannot recall who it was.

@FaqirAfaq What, your ego? Or the level of magnification on that telescope?
These are all really cool, some I knew, some really stopped me in my tracks. Awesome!
Am I the only one who looked at the title and immediately giggled? Sounds so wrong.
Thought provoking. We think of ourselves as the biggest and best - and indeed some of the man-made items are huge, but nature does well too. There seems to be a template for mammals and each species is tweaked slightly to make it individual.
Actually a pretty interesting post! Thanks :) now we need small stuff!!
While the idea first appeared on Buzzfeed, it looks like they just took the photos from a subreddit without doing further research. Bored Panda has done extensive research and has collected more pictures. By the way, Buzzfeed copies Bored Panda's posts all the time (never crediting us, even after we contact them), so it works both ways. The difference is we invest more time and try to do posts better
