Gay Teen Asks Friend’s Mom If He Can Come To Girls-Only Sleepover And Her Response Wins The Internet

Everybody loves sleepovers, and Mason Brian Barclay is no exception, but the teenager, who identifies as gay, had a slight problem when he wanted to stay over at his friend’s house recently. His new BFF, Houston Shelton, was having a sleepover, but her parents have a strict no opposite-sex rule, which meant that only girls were allowed.

Not to be deterred however, Mason decided to write to Houston’s mom to make his case as to why he should be allowed to attend. “Hey Mrs. Shelton! This is Mason Brian Barclay, I am one of Houstons new bestffriends. If she had people over on Friday, would I, a very homosexual male, be able to take part in the sleepover.” How did Mrs Shelton respond? Scroll down to see the conversation for yourself, which Mason recently shared on twitter.

Awww...if that is his friend group and he is allowed to be included, so much the better. Good friends are a wonderful thing.

I never really got this. Just because he is a guy, even if he was hetero, that wouldn't mean he would instantly sleep with the girl... I mean, I've slept in the same bed as guys at sleepovers (my parents knew, and completely agreed to it) since I can remember. And I've never slept with any of them. And if I wanted to, then why not? I think it's more important to educate your child on safe sex rather than forbidding it...

I can think of lots of reasons not to have sex with someone...doesn't matter if I happen to be sleeping in the same bed as them. There are many many many reasons "why not..."

If she was worried about her 'hot husband' should she not be concerned about all of her daughters female friends?

I believe she meant it as a joke telling him that he was more than welcome. It wasn't meant to be rude or hurtful. Thankfully the young man realized this and reacted appropriately

I’m bisexual, so basically sleepovers aren’t an option anymore. :(

My mom always let my gay best friend stay the night in fact I don't think there was ever a question as to whether he would be allowed to it was just kind of an unspoken thing...I love this girls moms response

so glad others are being accepted for who they are, not for their color, or anything else. My best friends were gay and I was very safe around them. In fact, they keep me out of a lot of trouble by alerting me to the wrong men. I would never question any of my friends, male or female, when around a homosexual person. I would not expect them to question my sexual orientation, either. When did we get to the place where those intimate details belong to society?

Maybe mom was trying to set something up between him, her, and dad?

This triangled out the girlfriend. Alternately mother could have directed her to reply and set limits for such intrusions.

It's girls only sleepover because if boys come , they may be attracted to the girls and things would get out of hand But if the boy itself isn't interested in girls , then there wouldn't be such a problem at all ... So he was invited .

"Hey Mrs. Shelton! Thanks again for allowing me to participate in the sleepover. I had an absolute blast. Anway, I discovered that I am bissexual. Anyway, talk to you again in nine months. Gentle kisses!

Does anyone else find it odd he referred to himself as "very homosexual?" I didn't realize there were degrees.

Reminds me of my childhood friend who pretended to be gay so that the girls would get comfortable undressing in front of him. And would sleep with some of them as they were trying to convert him. He ended up marrying One of those girls (she found out before they got married) 😂 so my pessimistic side is thinking this is a ploy. 😂
