Homeless Couple Get A Makeover And A Surprise Charity Wedding After Being Together For 24 Years
Wedding ceremonies serve several purposes, and they are often a cherished moment in a couple’s lives. A wedding ceremony is often utilized as a public display of marriage vows and the couple entering into the marital contract. For most couples, the focus of the wedding ceremony is on their commitment and love for each other. Aside from complying with the law, there are several reasons why a wedding is essential to the bride and the groom. In addition to the usual justifications of love and commitment, people of all walks of life have differing views on why a wedding is so essential to them.

Rosalyn Ferrer and Rommel Basco are a couple from the Philippines in their 50s

They have been together for over 24 years now, but unfortunately were subjected to a rough life on the streets of Pampanga province

The couple has 6 children, and for the last few years, they have been living in a small shack that was part of a wasteland

Given their life conditions, a wedding was simply something the couple could not afford or even prioritize at any point as they barely had enough money for food

The couple in their 50s usually makes money by collecting discarded plastic to sell as scrap, but it’s mainly just enough to cover the cost of food for that day

However, as of recently, the couple was noticed by a man named Richard Strandz who owned a hair salon near the place Rosalyn and Rommel lived

Upon hearing the couple’s story and finding out that the both of them couldn’t afford a wedding despite being together for over 20 years, the man found himself wanting to do something for them

Richard didn’t hesitate and reached out to a couple of his friends

He asked them if they could help him prepare a surprise wedding and a photo shoot for Rosalyn and Rommel

Upon finding out about the surprise wedding the couple was absolutely delighted

It didn’t take long to organize everything and the couple had an incredible makeover and a surprise charity wedding that included a photoshoot just a day before this year’s Valentine’s day. Of course, as of now, the marriage isn’t really official, but Richard and his friends who own a wedding supply business are willing to take a step further and help the couple again by paying for their official wedding at the church after their marriage paperwork will be processed. The official wedding is supposed to happen sometime later this year.
Here are some of the pictures from Rosalyn’s and Rommel’s surprise wedding photoshoot

Share on FacebookIf I were asked to finish the headline "Homeless Couple Finally Get To Have" with something heartwarming, my first 20 or so choices probably wouldn't be "wedding photography."
Yeah, a house would be nice. Clothes or food for the children. A job. Help with fixing their teeth. A car or van. Etc Also, why did they make her white? Awful makeup
Load More Replies...It's a lovely gesture, but a selfish and pointless one. The photographer just wanted to showcase his work and using them grabs more attention then using regular people (also, I doubt they are getting any royalties). On the other side, they would have benefited more by getting the money invested in the suits and everything else...they barely have a wall to hang these pictures. Last thing: hard working couples, with more than average salaries seriously contemplate before having a 2nd child out of fear of not being able to properly raise and educate them...6 kids when you were dirt poor even at the first one, equals vices, lack of self control and downright selfishness as you're condemning all to lack of education and poverty. This ain't the movies...
It's easy to judge when you're in a position to control more or less what happens in your life and also have the privilege of having been educated enough to not end up like them. They're the result of a country that doesn't care about its citizens and the lower class.
Load More Replies...what a difference to them both. To survive 20 years homeless with children is a feat on its own. And the bride is stunning
About 20 years ago the British newspaper The Sun did a photo shoot with some homeless people. They had shaves, haircuts and were put into nice suits etc. They had them posing lying on the ground holding mobile phones! This is equally exploitative but some people can’t see it. They think it’s nice and wouldn’t dare be critical in case they were seen as not caring. This isn’t caring. It’s all about the photographer getting their name out under the guise of compassion.
I'm terribly disturbed by all of the negativity here. These lovely people had a chance to be clean and well-dressed...which leads to self esteem. A little hope can go a very, very long way. And she is stunning.
So what was the long term purpose of this? Because it looks like these people were used as models for potography.
i think this couple was happy for that day and now has beautiful memories... nothing lifechanging but nevertheless something special for them. not everything has to fulfill a purpose. sure, you could say, why didn't they pitch in for something useful for them? but maybe it was the best way to give the couple something to feel special. and they seem really happy
Load More Replies...Nothing says "I care" like giving a homeless couple a wedding makeover a photoshoot! PEOPLE ARE NOT PROPS. This disgusts me.
It said they got a wedding but where are their family and friends, nice buffet, etc? So this is nothing more than a photo shoot. And photo shoots are more like work than fun. So who is benefiting from this? If the aim was to help out this couple living in poverty, is this really the way to go???
AITA for thinking that maybe the money spent on this could have gone toward, I dunno, food? Or a home?
Granted there are other things that they could of used more but lets not crap all over a generous act just because it didnt fix all of their issues. I think folks that are unused to a life of wanting have trouble understanding how much one day of feeling 'normal' can be worth to someone that has never felt that way before.
Why did they make her skin looking so "whitish"? My thoughts to the entire project: I think ther're a lot of things they need much more than a surprise wedding - and then falling back in their life full of lacks.
This. This makes me happy. Who knows where it could lead? Please be happy for them.
How envious... it's so difficult for many people to find true love like theirs. Congratulations!
It shows how everyone really IS beautiful, as long as life circumstances make it possible. But these two lovely people are so terribly thin, missing so many teeth, living rough, in extreme poverty, with six kids . . . I wish they could get some more substantial help than just a gorgeous wedding album.
Yeah that's true Joy....I must say you have beautiful smile Joy, how are you doing and where are you from ?
Load More Replies...Maybe instead of bashing we can make a go fund me? If you want to see ch.ge in the world be the hanged. Let me know if anyone would be interested
Something is better than nothing, but I still don't like the make up of the bride that makes her skin so much lighter. Such a narrow perception of the beauty
I love this and the wife looks so beautiful and you can see the happiness in their eyes despite difficulty they were still together and were so happy, this is telling us to find happiness in the little things that we have UwU
The stark contradiction between the beatiful people and the harsh environment really makes me think.
I love this so much! My grandparents lived in the Philippines and they didn't have a real wedding until a few years after they were officially considered husband and wife. Also, they look like on of those power couples from those dramatic Filipino telenovelas .
Awful racist makeup. Unnecessary wedding fotos. Nothing useful for a homeless family. This post is depressing
I was also shocked about the sudden change of brides face colour. WTF
