Guangzhou (China) and Mechelen (Belgium) are two cities that have nothing in common, roughly 9400 kilometers away from each other, with 7 hours time difference. They have different languages, climates, scenery, population, and even utterly disparate on cultures and customs.

Despite all of these differences, there’re no other places in this world that I feel so close to. They are home to me. Family, living on two ends of the Eurasian continent is my most precious treasure on earth.

“Jet-lag 7 hours” is a story about “global village” era. Flight from Mechelen back to Guangzhou only needs around 17 hours in total. But everything changes sharply around us within such short time. While we are embracing the happiness by coming back to Guangzhou, spending time with the love ones, saying goodbye to family in Mechelen lingers. Mixed feelings and the emotional jet-lag we experience is far more longer than 7 hours.

This story describes our journey back in January 2014 from Mechelen to Guangzhou. But actually every time we travel from Guangzhou to Mechelen, the exact same feelings occur. “Jet-lag 7 hours” is such a painful feeling in my heart, yet, it’s the biggest gift I could wish for!
