Employee Saves Child From Kidnapper, Instead Of Promotion Gets This Letter Saying He’s Fired
This guy from Portland, Oregon just lost his job at Home Depot for violating company policy, which doesn’t sound like such a big deal until you realize that the reason he broke the rules was because he was stopping a child from getting kidnapped!
“At the time, the only thing I was thinking about was the child’s safety,” said 32-year-old Dillon Reagan, who had worked at the Mall 205 store for four years before he was bizarrely dismissed for his heroics. “I stepped outside and sure enough, there’s this lady who’s frantic and crying, ‘Somebody help me please! He’s stealing my kid, he’s kidnapping my child!’”
Reagan and a colleague called the police and then, on the advice of the dispatcher, they followed the man on foot until the police arrived. After giving their statements, Reagan said they returned to the store around 10 minutes later, but the next day he was surprised when his supervisor scolded him for “doing the wrong thing.” A month later the company fired him for breaking the company’s safety policy, and even though they’ve since reversed their decision (possibly in light of media attention), Reagan says he isn’t sure if he wants to reclaim his job given the unfair treatment he’s received. What would you do? Let us know in the comments below. (h/t: KGW)
This is Dillon Reagan. He recently stopped a child from getting kidnapped while he was at work
But instead of a promotion, his employer, Home Depot, dismissed him for violating company policy!
“I was fired for stopping a kidnapper from successfully abducting a child. FML,” he wrote on Facebook
Needless to say, he wasn’t the only person who was outraged by what had happened

Share on FacebookHow the hell can one get fired for saving someone s life? So it's ok to put someone life in danger instead of saving them??
I'm guessing he left work to follow the kidnapper and didn't notify his supervisor. Taking off in the middle of your shift is usually a fire-able offense, but given the circumstances you'd think Home Depot would give this guy a break. Sad that his heroism was punished rather than rewarded.
Load More Replies...Boy, Home Depot really stepped on its 'Johnson' this time. Had they made him into a hero, the PR value would have been priceless. This is just one more reason why I go to Lowes first, when I need something. They also love Charlie, and the employees say "Where's Charlie" when I don't bring him with me. I'm a huge Lowes Person. :D
Who is Charlie? I agree with you, you gotta wonder if the people at places like Home Depot or United have any common sense at all.
Load More Replies...If there was a Lowe's nearby maybe they could offer him a job. Would be great PR for them....'heroes are welcomed and appreciated here at Lowe's' kinda thing....
Home Depot killed my nephew. Kenny Young was working at HD in Cheyenne WY and had a heart attack. They did not call 911, as is their policy. A relative had to arrive to come and drive him to ER. Had he gotten care sooner, he could have been saved. So don't have an emergency at HD, or need the police, or expect to be treated with dignity as an employee. Fie on Home Depot!
I am so sorry for your loss. I can't believe they would refuse to help an employee in an obvious medical emergency! Just... wtf?! The fact that they would rather let someone die than have an ambulance called to their property... that's the most heartless thing I've heard in a long time.
Load More Replies...It's super easy to paint Home Depot as a villain, but really most chain stores do not provide their management with enough training. They put emphasis on black and white rules rather than independent thought. This could have been any chain store with a bad manager.
This was not the manager's doing. Do not blame them. This was a corporate decision based on proposed liability.
Load More Replies...All the time I wanted to ask the same question!
Load More Replies...HD already said they "reversed their decision" after a "review of the situation". In other words, they got caught so they had to backtrack for damage control. Mr. Reagan has said he doesn't feel like working for them anymore. Can't say I blame him, but I hope he's had other job offers.
What sucks is that a public offer of employment means that his benefits will be rescinded whether or not he takes the job, unless the state somehow categorizes it as a dangerous or hostile (discriminatory) workplace. So I hope this story gets him a good offer.
Load More Replies...So, The Home Depot did a dirty move and when they got people attention, they just try to fix it? I wonder how many times this happened before to people without Social Network knowledge OR before Facebook. You can't fix this by giving back a job. They should do a charity or something.
A lot. Back in the eighties there was a stream of convenience store robberies. People were getting fired for giving the money to the robbers
Load More Replies..."you assisted the police in preventing a kidnapping" which is soooo obviously the wrong thing to do... Are those people for real?? I would definitely not go back to work there.
I am perplexed that any police Dept would ask an unarmed, untrained citizen in danger by asking him to follow a drunk and violent criminal. Who would we have held accountable if he had been hurt or injured?
Load More Replies...How could any employer get it so wrong? Handed a perfect opportunity to praise a selfless and life saving act by an employee, boosting company moral and positive media/public perception, they treat the employees as a villain, and fire him! Boycott this company, money seems to be the only thing they value.

more like soulless machines, they have no ethics, no humanity left in them only greedy
Load More Replies...I hate home depot they definitely had some managers that are really idiots. Least her in Az. I took my measuring tape, set it down after measuring some molding and it got stolen 5 mins later when I came back. No biggie my fault, so I bought a new one. The next day I came back to buy the molding. Well my measuring tape set off the alarm. The guy at the front proceeds to humiliate me that I stole the tape. I did explain I bough it the night before. he said that was impossible as it would not set off the alarm. I told him most likely the cashier didn't remove the theft thingy. Nope he kept it after customer were now seeing a scene. I kept my cool and told him I live 2 blocks and when I get back with the receipt I want an equally public apology. Came back and he refused !
It's the nature of a great human being to step in and help like that, especially a child. I understand how companies have rules to...
... prevent liability, but this is an act that shouldn't be punished, him doing the right thing for a child in danger. He's a hero.
Load More Replies...Ok Home Depot has just gone to the top my list of companies to never do business with.
Wow. Just wow. That man deserves a freaking medal! Heck he saved a LIFE there! God damn what is wrong with this world??
No good excuse, but they allready reacted, cause of the brewing sh*t storm.. 1231-595e6...c16daa.jpg
i'd be like "oh that's cute. no, i want a mangers salary"
Load More Replies...You see 'merica, this is one of the many reasons why us Europeans lough our asses off at you. In Europe the employees would have kicked the s**t out of the kidnapper until the cops arrived and they would have been commended for it. In your country, land of the free & home of the brave, this s**t happens. Go Murrica, go!
About twenty years ago, I was working at a public library with a boss who was a huge stickler for the chain of command. Me and another librarian witnessed a woman repeatedly abusing her child. We followed the rules and told our supervisor who contacted the people over her head who said it wasn't our business. We couldn't accept this. The other librarian's mother worked for child services, so we called her mom. We fully expected to lose our jobs over it, but were merely scolded instead. I still believe we did the right thing. Bureaucracy be damned.
Daycare owner refused to report possible sexual abuse of 4 yo. I was 24, teacher, went to payphone to report. Abuse confirmed. I quit.
Load More Replies...I have a 6 year old girl if she was getting kid napped and a store employee told me it was against policy to help fire would rain
I would like to think you would be the one calling the police/chasing after the kidnapper, not expecting others to do it?
Load More Replies...United, Home Depot...does anyone at these companies bother to think?
This guy shouldn't accept their offer to return to work. Corporate only reversed their decision because of the negative social media publicity. Most likely, they've issued orders to the store manager to "ride this guy like a rented mule" if he comes back to work; in other words, every little mistake he makes will result in a write-up. This way, they'll have a "legitimate" reason to fire him in a short while. Or they'll pull a "bait and switch" with his schedule. The schedule will show him off on, say, Tuesday. He'll work Monday, take Tuesday off, and return for his shift on Wednesday. That's when he'll be fired for being a "no call, no show" on Tuesday, with the manager pointing out that the schedule showed he was to be at work on Tuesday. He'd have to prove it was changed without his knowledge, and that's difficult to do. I know; it happened to me once.
The problem is that once an offer of legitimate employment is made, you lose your benefits if you decline the work. There are sometimes exceptions for an unsafe or hostile workplace; I don't know Oregon labor law well but he may have a claim. You are absolutely right about the devious abuse they can and will concoct. Companies don't take kindly to this kind of thing and would prefer to punish and discredit any offenders.
Load More Replies...I work for these pathetic POS's. Their management is simply the worst I have ever seen in my life.
FU*K Home DEPOT....I quit shopping there 17 years ago.. Even though I live 2 miles away I drive another 5 mile to go to Menards.....besides Home Depot is going under anyway. I'd be surprised if they are still in business in 3 to 4 years. I worked there back in 1999 and quit 5 months later its a terrible environment anyway.
What morons work there I ask? And I wouldn't take the job back if they offered now anyway, go f*** yourself Home Depot and pray to God nothing ever happens to your kids and maybe some 'hero' won't bother as well as it's against the stupid policy. Wth is going on in that country? Wow.
what happened? has home depot answered about this? has a lawyer seen his case?
America.. the home of the brave and the land of the free... Oh wait... :'(
In any situation, the one certainty is that someone in HR will be a prick.
HR is full of people who majored in nothing degrees like Communications and drank through college, then schmoozed and networked their way into a M-F office gig. From there, they make simple-minded and ignorant policy and decisions.
Load More Replies...He should have gotten a medal for being a hero, how sad HD did not value a child's life over their stupid policy.
Bottom line - Home Depot is not a very good company to work for. Their stores are dirty and many of the products they sell, even though have main brand names are of poor quality.
There is something wrong with a company that expects its employees to do the wrong thing for the sake of the almighty dollar. You can bet if it had been one of their wives with their children they would want someone to step in and protect their child! I will take my business to Menards.
This has nothing to do with the almighty $. These policies are in place to keep employees safe. I seriously question the actions of a police dispatcher to asked/ordered an untrained, unarmed citizen into an unknown situation. Who would we be blaming if the kids actions had caused injury or death to himself or the child?
Load More Replies...I would most certainly step in for that child and protecting them no matter what. There is something wrong with people and a company that thinks the safety of children should be ignored or disregarded for the sake of the almighty dollar and because their insurance won't cover an employee who is actually doing the right thing. You can bet if it was their kid they would want someone to step in and do the right thing!
When you Finally realize Profit is more than Life and you are part of this broken World :D
It makes it hurt to breathe sometimes. And it is sad because there are no new frontiers, nowhere to go to just check out of the profit machine and eat off the land like we're evolved to do. It's also weird that all this wealth and profit is purely theoretical, represented on paper and bytes with no real backing resource, assigned value only by virtue of society accepting the terms. There are many more without than with, yet we all submit to this corrupt and unnatural state.
Load More Replies...I don't even understand their frame of thinking... I REALLY want to know Home Depot's side of the story. How on earth did they come up with this illogical decision in the first place????
Companies usually have a policy in place requiring their employees avoid engaging in any sort of confrontation on company property. New employees are told to do things like hand over the money if being robbed because if he had been hurt during any of this, he would have been eligible for worker's comp, which is expensive for employers. Alternatively, he could have sued for damages since it would have happened on their property. Either of those are bad news for employers money-wise, so they would much rather let the robber take the money from the till or, evidently, let a child be kidnapped. Both of those are much less expensive than paying worker's comp or legal fees.
Load More Replies...Reaaaally hope that this is a fake... firing somone for caring about another human being and protecting someone's life would be terribly stupid, mean and immoral. I wouldn't think much of the guy/girl who sign those two men and even less of the one who fired them.
Someone had a bad day and think it's OK to agress people? SusanS, you should try to apply to yourself your "LEARN TO READ ALL THE WORDS" because, sweety, we read all the post. We understand all the words.Thank you for your concern. We're even having a civilised discussion between educated adults about this post. Maybe you should try not to rage for nothing, it's bad for your heart.
Load More Replies...Home Depot?? Really dude? Well it is a huge corporation after all and this makes me so happy that I shop at Ace Hardware instead. I'd rather go with a smaller company with heart then this faceless and rude corporation!
I don't like Home Depot or Lowes or any other "big box" hardware store. I try to use my local "mom & pop" lumber yard if I need lumber or hardware.
We have a lot of those here and I love them. It might be 10% more to shop at them but it is a better experience and good for the community. ACE, TruValue, McClendon'a are locally owned here, so we have options. I remember in Iowa there was a place in many small towns called Benjamin Franklin's, I think, which was a hardware/general store. They always had cool stuff. I've found lumber to be harder, though...the big stuff sometimes isn't carried at all the local shops.
Load More Replies...I am not one to jump on the "boycott so and so" bandwagon, but after reading this, I seriously would not shop at Home Depot again. Regardless of policy, common sense and common decency should prevail. This supervisor has neither and he is the one that should have been fired.
so in their eyes (home deport) it's more important to do your shift instead of saving someone's life?! is greed all they can think about!?! bastards, i hope their business goes under
Unbelievable!!!! I cannot believe this BS! He should be commended, not fired. What is wrong with Home Depot. Breaking store rules trumps saving a child's life anyplace/anytime. This wonderful young man and his colleague will have great KARMA for saving this child. Screw Home Depot!!!
Not surprised they did this. I was harassed by day workers in their parking lot. When I complained to HD I was advised the security they have is primarily for their carts. How about a news agency getting through to corporate and embarrassing the hell out of them and forcing them to apologize to this man, and also chaning their stupid policy.
Home Depot is not a very decent company. Their stores are dirty and the majority of their products are of low quality.
That is B.S. !! I have to agree with everyone else , get the media involved . What HD done to you was completely and totally wrong !! You saved this childs life with your heroic action . Hold your head high and know that you were right in what you done , HD was wrong . As far as them offering you your job back , I'd tell them to kiss my a*s !!!!!
They rescinded the termination. He had been reprimanded earlier that month for arguing with a coworker.
That would work. Except he shared the letter from the Oregon State Employment office. Which states the reason for the firing is "He helped the police in a kidnapping". As in HD told them that was the reason. THey also reversed when this became public.
Load More Replies...Wtf?! The letter actually states, you were fired for ASSISTING the police in Preventing a KIDNAPPING!! UnF*ckingBelievable!
customer service is more important than regulations shame on you home depot!
He done what he thought was right and saved a kid from a perv and yet the owners of the company think is ok for to sack a person for doing the right think, I wonder what the owners would have done if it was one of there kids who was being kidnapped and they just let the person get on with it, I bet there would be a lot of s**t hitting the fan .
I used to work for Home Depot and it's true. During employee orientation we were all strictly warned that if we step in to prevent or stop a crime from happening, it will result in termination. This includes anything from shoplifting to a robbery at gunpoint. They claim that it puts the company and all employees at risk when someone tries to be a hero and stop someone from committing a crime. It's a s****y policy, really.
First off let me say Thank you Dillion for what you did. As a mother and grandmother it is heart breaking to hear of a child being taking from their family by a stranger. So again I say Thank you and God will bless you. Home depot should be ashamed of themselves. They will prosecute someone for stealing out of their store, but will fire someone for helping an innocent child. This is crazy to think that a building material has more value then a life. I think I will be shopping at Lowes.
I can't help wondering if the supervisor who "scolded him for doing the wrong thing" has been fired. That would be a condition for me if I were to consider returning to a s**t company like that.
...maybe starting a good "shame on you" campaign could be a good thing ...
Home Depot Cutomer Care policy - Oh im sorry, i cant help you out of the Store cuz they gonna Fire me ASAP - When you finally realize Profit is more than Life :D
Probably had something to do with going off-site while on the clock or something dumb like that
What a f****d up world, assisting the kidnapper would got him a raise I suppose!!
How can you get fired for doing a good deed? If I was this guy I would have went straight to the BBB I'm sure he has and I'm sure he's got grounds to sue them for wrongful termination of employment inadvertently the Home Depot might have just made him rich what a stupid move done by a stupid company
Take your job back until you find another one. Don't "cut off your nose to spite your face" as my parents used to say...
so I hope that corporate ended up firing that manager. You can't put this on corporate, this was a call made by a local store manager. F that guy
That is why I don't buy from Home Depot anymore, this isn't the first time they have treated their employees badly in any part of the country. I go elsewhere and will continue to do so.
Why doesn't this surprise me? They treat their employees just as badly as they do their customers. Worst customer service ever! Can't believe these chuckleheads even allowed this to happen -- it takes a special kind of stupid to fire a hero.
You are a good person and good things will come to you. Keep your head up and keep doing the right thing
Because big companies can be sued so easily, their insurance companies dictate that policy as their premiums would be higher if employees were allowed to pursue errant customers. In the company the past the errant customers have successfully sued the companies. I may be a liberal but I am in favor of tort reform.
They probably thought it was so,e sort of elaborate plan to rob the store of very expensive tools which happens ALOT. Something just isn't adding up. Why wouldn't the mom try stop the kidnapper or call the police? Where is the letter saying he is fired, that's not it. Did the person trying to abduct a child get caught? He should've if the kid was rescued and they followed the perpetrator afterwards. This story is so so extremely odd and lacking details, it's almost hard to believe. Why would Home Depot want this type of negative publicity? I don't know what to truly believe anymore. B Bob
It's all about money.... these companies are so scared stiff about a potential lawsuit because an employee got hurt that they would sacrifice the life of a child to protect their bottom line..... disgusting
apply at the police dept they need good people like you home depo ill never step inside one your stories again
Accept their apology, AND request that they show you and your co-worker as heroes. All customers will be happy to know that people like you work at Home Depot. Maybe you get lucky and get a well deserved raise as well.
I'd sue Home Depot for unjustified termination of employment. If anything Dillion and his co-worker deserve a huge thank you from the company for being a shining light in a dark situation. Home Depot don't deserve my patronage....Look out Lowes you're about to get s**t tons of business LOL
I GUESS HOME DEPOT WOULD OF LIKED IT BETTER IF THAT LITTLE BABY WOULD OF GONE WITH THE KIDNAPPER AND GOD NO TELLING WHAT WOULD OF HAPPENED BUT HOME DEPOT HAS A POLICY DONT SAVE KIDS THAT R GETTING KID NAPPED. WOW HOW SHAMEFUL...LOWES HERE I COME AND LETTING MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY KNOW ABOUT HOME DEPOT.
This is so typical of a company like this I think Home Depot is a subsidiary of Walmart I could be wrong but it is Walmart's policy to not be a hero and also never stop the customer regardless of what they're doing even if they're trying to steal because that violates the don't be a hero policy and of course they're going to go ahead and include this situation even though somebody else's wife was it steak and that is so freaking typical of a big corporate entity where they don't give a c**p about you you are nothing but a number. F u, #HomeDepot. I know one thing for sure and that is it seems like every crappy story I've ever read about a hardware store has always been a Home Depot and since they seem to like to blatantly disrespect veterans and elderly people and fire their employees for saving children we're just going to go ahead and never ever shop at Home Depot ever again
Home Depot is the worst employer I have ever had. This dude can do better.
Forget Home Depot, Dillon. What you did was absolutely priceless. Well done!!!
I also live in Portland....This guy was a hero... but if he doesnt accept the job back, he is an a*****e. There are too many of us out her who have had HELL getting a job... You had no problem with HD BEFORE this incident,... why now?? Keep the job.... THEN SUE THEM!!! P.S. Home Depot will NEVER get my business again!
Hey i'll just spend my money at Lowes as everyone else reading this article should do.
What's confusing me is that it says "This WAS NOT a willful or wantonly negligent violation of the standards of behavior an employer has the right to expect of an employee." Well if it WAS NOT a violation of the standards of behavior why would they fire him?
Well, I guess all the fence boards we just bought from HD here in PA are going right back to the store. I'll go to Lowes instead.
Not surprised by this at all. Spent nearly 15 years with HD and I could tell some stories about unfair treatment and terminations.
I understand a company has rules and regulations..and blah, blah, blah..but , you have got to be kidding me, your company could fire a young man for saving a child's life. who ever made this decision..bravo to you for waking up that morning and eating one to many stupid pills...i hope he dont return to your company, you dont deserve a person like that working for you...Shame on you Home Depot...
I used to exclusively shop home depot because of their excellent customer service, which is exemplified by what this man did. Now, I'll think twice . Home Depot doesn't deserve my business. They may as well put a sign on their door "Crime welcome here without consequences."
I think Home Depot sucks. I think anyone who stops a kidnapping from happening should be commended not fired. I have been warned by HD employees that they are a sucky company to work for and to avoid them. I also find the store itself to be a pain because they are so cheap they have two or three floorwalkers to handle the entire store. When you need assistance, you have to roam all over looking for an employee. This employee who saved a child should be awarded a medal. I would not go back to Home Depot either. I would hire in at Lowes.
I've already vowed never to shop there again. Terrible customer service. I always go to Lowe's. This is a prime example of the company's service. I wouldn't take my job back if I were him.
Dillon you should sue for lost wages and since you are uncomfortable to return to such a cold company possibly 10-15yrs lost wages as well. Good luck either way young fella. Good on you. What's right is right keep on being gold
HD was already on my boycott list and they been sending me offers trying to woo me. That does it ! Sure the HD owners are pizza party pedo's themselves and pissed them off he botched a child snatch ! Done with home depot and off to Lowes !
Already have HD on my boycotting list and they keep sending me offers trying to woo me and THIS zips it. The higher ups are probably pizza party types and he botched a snatch and pedo's will not have that without retribution. Done Home depot and off to Lowes.
All these big corp. think their employees are just robots. Good for this guy! If he was My son I would be sooo proud! By the way, he did EVERYTHING RIGHT! called the cops, did what they said and not more than directed. Home Depot should have given him a raise and more. I hope someone else with a soul gives him a better job! He is too good for HD!!!
Well, it's Home Depot, hardly the career loss of the century and although I'm not entirely sure of their salary, I'm pretty sure their pay scale won't be much more than the minimum wage. Seriously, I would tell them where to poke their job, preferably where the sun doesn't shine. Jobs like that are two a penny to be honest and not worth the worry of being fired from.
A friend of mine was fired by HD (with a notation that prevented her from ever working at a HD again) after she told her boss she was relocating to another city and had been hired by a HD there. The offense? She had come into work, on her own time, on a Saturday to assist one of her customers.
I shop at Menard's anyhow, they have way more to offer than Home Depot and often at better prices. So f**k Home Dipshit.
i think that store should be ashamed of they self give this man back his job with a raise for their wrong in firing him this man did what many more people should do and saved a childs life ask that store person who fired him if it was his or her kid what would they want to see happen and i bet they respond with they would want some one to help them i say folks stop going to their store to shop show them who really matters in life and it aint about their money or job
Hero=Fired. SMH. I'm pretty impressed he's been with them for 4 years. I made it 8 months and found most of them hell. They had a policy that all part-time workers had to work a minimum of 4 hours on Sat AND Sun every weekend. No vacation available. No employee discount either, except 1 weekend per year before Christmas. Looking back, I'm surprised I stayed as long as I did.
I am just astounded that they would fire this man for this reason and even more surprised that it took public outrage to make them see it was wrong. They don't deserve to have him back there and I am sure he will many job offers to choose from. Now on to see how many fools had to bring politics into this for no other reason, but pure ignorance.
really unfair!if i had a company i would offer him a job, a person like that is an asset for any company! But i'm not surprised...people are sick. One time i saw a 2?year old, alone in front of a great commercial center, i waited near him 5minutes and he was really alone so i took him be the hand inside the mall to call security for an announcement. Then his mother ran off me, screaming and yelling at the poor kid for following me.i told her it was very dangerous to leave him alone in front of the mall like that, not a "thank you": "i was taking my car!" "and then you leave your little boy alone more that 5 minutes with crowd?".this would never stop me from acting, i hope that this won't stop this guy too, people are sick!
I don't care if they did reverse their decision, I won't shop there again. Hello, Lowe's! ;-)
Absolutely going to Freidmann's from now on. No more Home Depot. Nice, going, you profit-minded chimpanzees ......
The "Dumb Heapo" only caters to construction workers any , every one else gets bad treatment, Lowes has ALWAYS treated me great.
http://www.snopes.com/man-fired-stop-kidnapping/ he was fired for leaving the store during his shift, however after the outrage the company offered him his job back as well as back pay
Maybe, he got fired because of the fact he left the store unattended. Putting the company property at risk is a reason to engage a disciplinary. On the other hand, the company in question should messure the circumstances and should think about the fact of loosing a Human life or company prop.
Lowes has the same no follow out the door policy. I don't or hope they wouldn't have gone as far as home depot, since the police told this guy to follow the kidnapper. Someone that owns a business out there needs to give this man a job....he has common sense which is lacking in most anymore!
I worked at a large retail chain in college, and the company policy in the case of a "Code Adam" (a missing child) was not to interfere. We all had "stations" to go to if a code was called, but if we saw someone taking a child we were to remember all details possible but to not try and stop anything. The idea was we would have no idea if the person had a weapon on them, and our attempt at interfering could cause the kidnapper to lash out and harm the child. I'm not saying I agree, but this was the company policy
Next time he'll follow store policy on child abductions per the CBL's...Should have been terminated the same say as per the Class "A" violation of store policy.
Well, I am not in the U.S., but really think that this should get as much news space as can be given. Boycot the store in question show them that its not acceptable whats happend, make it hurt where it hurts most their daily sales, I'm sure you have plenty of other stores that sell the sam e merchandise as this one.
Well, this is a bomb! I understand why he will not accept this job back, its kind of disgrace that the company is applying rules even in case of emergency! Will they fire people in case they will leave their places due to a bomb attack?
Unfortunately, many people think that the government (and every other aspect of life) should be run like a corporation, with rules like this.
The wording of the letter of dismissal by Home Depot doesn't even make sense--it boils down to "While we don't object to your assistance in helping prevent the kidnapping, and it doesn't violate any company policy, we're firing you for doing it anyway."
I was one of the best employees The Home Depot ever had. This is typical. They ignore their ethics code that is imprinted on the apron. It's a corporation now and not the same as when Arthur and Bernie, the founders, once ran it. They put children with no experience in management positions and if they do not like you, they will create a hostile working environment and will target you for termination of employment and they will lie to do it. They throw away so much money in the garden department you would be shocked. They simply do not care. They become bureaucratic which is described in the Founders book ...Built From Scratch on page 139. I lived and breathed The Home Depot. Guess I outshined the others a little too much. Oh well. I'm proud of the accomplishments I made helping every customer I could with a genuine smile. It's a shame that those in higher positions really don't care what The Home Depot is becoming.
I think the supervisor who fired him should be fired and made an example of. Very disgraceful. He should sue them for wrongful dismissal.
If he was fired then good because Home depot is one of the worst companies to work for. They pay their employees absolute s**t and only part time so they don't have to pay for health insurance. Basically it's a company that takes advantage of desperate people and treats them like they are in the military. DO NOT work for this company, if you do QUIT, you are being taken advantage of.
Dear Home Depot. You took a month to think about this before you fired him. Reversing your decision now does not help you. I guess I won't be seeing you around much longer. Good riddance.
Um, wait. Isn't this part of the Code Adam. Which will have all associates require to go to exits and no one with a child may exit? This is how it was when I worked for Home Depot. Just looking at the letter they wrote I am appalled at what they said. Yes, we are not to put ourselves or anyone into danger but again, he was doing what also he was advised by the 911 dispatch. Yes, I would be very worried about going back to a job if that is how it will be.
Most stores will tell you to NOT to get involved. This is a company policy due to insurance reasons. And most will say you will be fired if you do. HOWEVER...the police instructed them to follow, it should have been waived in this case.
If I were this young man, I would either stay another year, until vested in the company, which usually happens at five years. Otherwise, from the letter they gave him, it was not a discharge for misconduct connected with the work and he is eligible for unemployment. He should claim unemployment until he finds another job, and judging from these circumstances, it should not be long before he finds another job. The reason HD let him go is, most companies have a rule not to confront shoplifters, etc., because you don't know what someone who is cornered will do, and companies have had employees killed doing the "right" thing, and he did the right thing. He did the good person thing. He won't be unemployed long.
And this is why I have cut up all my home depot cards. A child gets kidnapped on your premises and you fire the employee for working with the police a saving this child's life? That alone says it all about your company, and with what it says I do not want to be a part of. We all see where your priorities lie. Disgusting!
Just one MORE reason I prefer Lowe's. (They actually have much better selection in everything, btw)
Maybe, the home depot personnel who wants him fired is in cahoots with that manager.
For following the instructions given by the police dispatcher, he was fored? Just wow.
If company fires someone for stupid reasons, then it's good that you got fired. Who would want to work for dumb asses like that anyway. But I would fight what I am entitled to for an unlawful dismissal. No matter what, if somebody needs help like this, you help. I am sure there will be laws now to protect employees from abuse like this.
This article has no details whatsoever. Doesn't even explain how he "saved" the child. All it says is he followed the guy on foot until police arrived. So the police saved the child, right? Also doesn't explain what rules he supposedly broke. Nothing it really explained. This is poor journalism.
The supervisor scolded him for 'doing the wrong thing'--wow HD, way to screw the pooch. Actually he did the right thing, because he was following the instructions of the police, that's what every citizen is supposed to do in an emergency. Yeah, they are gonna regret this, big time.
I would insist that the supervisor be terminated before I even thought about going back or I would sue for wrongful termination.
Better not give his job away,, because he WILL be back first thing in the morning! If not, he has the right to sue Home Depot for everything, and win!
Most big stores have a policy like this. Wall Mart does too. Employees are not to interact with customers or situations when police or medical rescue is needed ......in case they screw up and die or kill someone then "the company" is not liable.
WHAT?!?! This heroic man saved a GIRL!!! And he's being fired for it?!?!
Home Depot should be ashamed, the man did what was morally right and a child was saved.
Home Depot sucks! The owner of Home Depot made disparaging remarks about those of us who work for a living. F**K HOME DEPOT!
The greedy big business owners and management only see profit.... no profit made for them by this employee while saving a child! Taking all my business to Lowes!
Dillon Reagan can come to work at Black & Veatch. We have an office in Portland. We are looking for good people.
Dillon Reagan can apply at Black & Veatch. We are looking for good people - I believe we have an office in Portland.
They said that two employees followed the kidnapper. What happened to the other employee? Did he or she get fired too?
If I were him, I would include copies of the letter from the Department of (Un)employment in my resume. And get the hell out of retail, it sucks out your soul.
Shame on home depot. These young men deserve applause for being kind concerned humans unlike y'all.
Any retail store I have worked at or knew someone that has it is against policy to do anything with someone breaking the law outside of your location. It was explained to me that once you are outside those doors and if you got hurt their insurance did not have to cover anything as you were outside of the work location,
Depends on the state. In most cases they say that to scare you. But the ACTUAL liability rules are much different. Example. The guy outside the doors in the lot? Clearing the carts. He is still covered. The company stating he is not does not change Law and Insurance Policy. That sounds a lot like the parking lots that post "We are not responsible for any damage. This sign says so.". You know they still are right?
Load More Replies...Fire someone for not saving a life when they could. Reward and praise your worker who do what is right. It is the proper business of every Human Resources department to grant exceptions to the rules when the rules fly in the face of common sense and decency.
Human Resources does not exist to do the right thing. They are there to protect the a**es of the higher-ups, to rationalize screwing over those on the lower levels of the company, to assemble whiz-bang charts and slides showing how wonderfully management is treating everybody, and to isolate the idiots who had to be hired because they're somebody's relative or bed partner.
Load More Replies...why is there any discussion about the Potus? He doesn't run Home Depot! Story is about middle mgmnt that f-ed up , hopefully will THINK now
It is something people appropriated for an effect around for a long time. The "I am the Manager and I am right" effect. Also known as the "Shut up I am the INVESTOR NOT YOU" effect.

The Supervisor is too dumb to know when to use DISCRETION related to circumstances. This is one of the most RIDICULOUS things I have ever read. Really! I was soooo speechless at first. With all that is going on in the world, could you imagine the fate of that child?!! What the #$%@*& was that Supervisor thinking!!? Geez!! HE is the one who should be fired! In times of extreme & exceptional circumstances, extreme & exceptional actions MUST be taken. What a DumbA$%^& !! Dillon Reagan is a hero - he has a sense of community. He did his civic duty - his Supervisor could learn something from him!!
My guess is that this decision was not made by supervisor. Was made much higher up the food chain. Supervisor was just the one that did as he was ordered.
Load More Replies...So,Home Depot just lost my business,he should have been commended, not fired.I'd love to know what Pinhead made that decision.
He is a hero. he could have said it was not his problem, instead, he did the right thing. that mom and child will never forget him.
Well this s**t news has now gone global! Fancy running a business that the world now knows is s**t!
Are you deliberately leaving out the fact that the "Drunk Man" was the child's father or was the man not the child's father?
Unbelievable. I agree with the young man that was fired -- I would no longer desire employment with Home Depot. Perhaps Lowe's would appreciate your humanitarian skills as well as your ability to labor. Dillon Reagan, you made a split instant decision in an under pressure situation and I commend you on doing the RIGHT THING. I hope if you had it to do over again knowing you'd be fired that you would do the same. Home Depot should take note from you and perhaps they could learn something. I applaud you, Dillon Reagan!!!!!!!!!

WOW!! Good for those guys to help that woman and her child. Shame on Home Depot for firing him. He saved a child's life. SMH
Unbelievably poor judgment from his company. Celebrate your firing my friend because after what you did you can seriously do better than working for that lot. Good luck to you and congratulations on your bravery
I think he's correct to reconsider going back to work there. What happened to the co-worker?
"Home Depot" persa is taking the Brunt of the abuse here..... However.... this came down to the decision of One Man...... This "One Man" needs to be the focus of this anger. Not Home Dept proper. As a Company... Home Depot reversed his firing..... the one that decided to fire is the one that needs to be brought to heel.
Getting fired for assisting the police in preventing a serious crime involvibg children? Someone needs a brain implant...
Dillon is a real life HERO & deserves to be treated as such, not get fired. If Dillon had NOT interveneed, the child could have bee seriously hurt or worse, murdered. Dillon should definitely be promoted & given a BIG FAT raise for his heroic actions
And what would have been Home Depot's response if the child had been sexually assaulted and then murdered? A good chance since her mother was assaulted by this drunk kidnapper. Guess I won't ever go to Home Depot again. Lowe's here I come.
pretty LAME Home Depot....you've lost ME as a customer. JUSTICE for Raegan!!!
WTF! Somebody at Home Depot has their head on backward! He saved a child and assisted the police and caught the kidnapper. What about his co-worker? What happened to him? They're both heroes!
Nice to see a Home Depot empolyee do ANYTHING. You walkl to most of the stores and there are no employees to be found and the ones you do so aren't doing anything. I have communicated with HD about the lack of staff and quality service. What do they do? FIRE the ONE PERSON on staff that actually DID SOMETHING. See, there is the problem. HD has a DON'T DO ANYTHING EVER FOR ANYONE policy and this guy broke it. Opps.
you just lost my business!! and i would not take the job back and sue their a*s! so ridicules!!! thanks god you were there and kept that child safe! shame on you people! SMH
It's very bad not to have a job, but it's great what you did, it could have been worse if you later looked at the news that something bad happened to that kid. I don't care H..D.. for me you are a HERO.
They wonder why people have just stopped caring. If it was me, this guy would have got a bonus and a terrific meal out somewhere, all expenses paid. Get yourself a new job young man where you will be appreciated. Anyone who goes above and beyond their remit has got to be a valued employee.
"Instead Of Promotion Gets This Letter Saying He’s Fired" Agreed. Getting fired for "saving" a kid REALLY sucks, BUT why would you get a promotion for it...? Is child-saving a valuable skill in home improvement supplies? How many kids do you have to save for a management position? I could see a gift card and a small recognition ceremony in the break room, but a promotion?
I never shop Home Depot since the employees are rude and act as if they are too busy to assist. Due to Lowe's incredible service and policies that can help a customer with their objective it is my pleasure to recommend Lowes as my first choice. They are the best and I have had nothing but fair prices and knowledgeable staff and always shop there .
The correct line of action for Home Depot, if they really want to prevent public outrage is to: 1- Immediately fire Dillon's supervisor. 2- Offer Dillon his supervisor's possition, or an appropiate financial compensation should he refuse the job (which he is more than entitled to). 3- Offer a public appology to the community, to Dillon and to the victims, stating that they are more concerned about their customers' safety than about their profits and policies.
Go back to work. That's the only way we are going to change the twisted thinking on the far left. Funny though, the founder of HD is a conservative.
This isn't a far left position. This is typical corporatism, where liability and policy override human decency, ethics, human lives, and judgment. Black & white thinking, zero tolerance, corporate welfare over the individual worker...those are right-wing vices. The company is based out of Georgia, too.
Load More Replies...well i will no longer be shopping at home depot and niether will anyone in my family
This calls for a nation wide boycott of every single Home Depot. They really over stepped their boundaries. Thus young man should've been given a award or promotion. Looks like Lowe's has won my business from this day forward.
What a stupid employer to fire an employee for preventing a kidnapping. I'm not sure I'd want to keep working for them. How do you know they learned their lesson?
Something doesn't seem to jive with the report. I've looked up several articles on it, and none of them say that the local Home Depot knew what Mr Reagan had done. As far as we know, his manager didn't know about it till after he went to the media. ... Guess I'd like to have that bit of info before castigating the manager.
Thank you for being a voice of reason. Don't you also wonder why the mother was not the one calling the cops/following the kidnappers and what the police dispatcher was thinking when they asked/ordered an unarmed/untrained citizen to get involved in an unknown situation? Lots of questions before I judge.
Load More Replies...I don't understand what the problem is the man did the right thing and I would think twice before before working for that company. Because they would always whooped that over the man.
I'm pretty sure - no, make that DAMN sure - I wouldn't accept the reversal of Home Depot's decision to fire me in this case. Corporate most likely only reversed their decision because of the negative publicity they were receiving; in fact, they've probably issued orders to the store manager to "ride this guy like a rented mule" in order to find a "legitimate" reason to let him go. If he goes back to work, he'll not be there long before they let him go again. If he's so much as one minute late to work, or back from a break, or from lunch, he'll receive a write-up. Also, there's the old "bait and switch" method of messing with his schedule. They'll show him being off one day, so he won't show up to work. When he comes in the next day, the schedule will show he was supposed to be in the previous day, and he'll be fired for being a "no call, no show."
Home Depot, shame on you! A good employee saved a child from being kidnapped, and you fire him? Did the other employee get fired, too? If so, that's 2 people that work for you, and provided assistance to the police, and you all have the Gaul to say, sorry, you did the wrong thing! Now, please tell me, what do they do instead? Tell the police 911 dispatcher, no can do! Our boss said we can't help you. We'd violate company policy on safety! So, then, the police arrest them, and come to your store and get all up in your business because you obstructed justice by not allowing the two employees to assist them? Well! That sounds so much better! Asswipes! That kind of rule, needs to be re written, which you apparently did! Do the words, too little too late sound familiar! ? I wont be using your store, ever again! Instead of being proud of your employees, you fire them. That sends the wrong message.. and you lost a great opportunity to impress the community.
Wow... Well Home Depot just committed Seppuku { ritual suicide } in the most epic of ways.... suicide-59...807b27.gif
Years ago, I was shopping at a Home Depot. I was waiting in the self-checkout line, about to start my transaction, when a man in a scooter didn't watch where he was going. He pushed me into the counter onto my head and just kept going. The home depot personnel were all over me - "Are you ok? Are you all right? Did you get hurt?" I said no, I was ok, just a little shaken up. No one tried to find the guy who hit me. No one suggested I see a doctor, even though I said I was ok. I went ahead and drove home. But in hindsight, they should have taken a report, called an ambulance to take me to the hospital (all on their dime), and should have detained the customer who hit me. What if I had gotten home and collapsed and had to go back to the hospital, to urgent care? Or worse? No paperwork, no witnesses to give their side of the story, and no one who actually hit me. They would have been totally liable for what happened to me - unless they lied and said it didn't. Bad policy. Very bad.
They definitely should have filed a report but you have the option to decline to participate in that report. Perhaps that's what they thought you were doing; they might still have filed an incident report internally. We did at several places I've managed. But I don't know anywhere that they would have had the authority to detain the guy who hit you with the scooter - he's free to just scoot the hell out of there. And unless he carried an umbrella policy for personal liability (unusual and unlikely), you wouldn't likely get anything in a suit worth the court fees. It doesn't seem like the store has liability here unless their self-check was designed in an unsafe manner that contributed to the accident. If you are injured and someone else is liable, your medical insurance company will actually pick up on it reviewing your medical records from the hospital or doctor and pursue damages.
Load More Replies...Shame on Home Depot, I'll stick with Lowe's! I used to work for them. I doubt they would have fired you for saving a child from God knows what. Hey maybe Lowe's will call you & commend you for your good deed & give you a good job.
LOWES. simple. Does anyone in Portland have a job for the hero?.I'm upset by home Depot. I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE. ..... EVER.
According to their FB site, they've rehired him back. It should never have happened in the first place.
Boy, all these Monday morning quarterbacks. 1.). We only have one side of the story....the young man's. 2.) Why did the police ask/order an untrained/unarmed citizen into a situation with a violent/drunk kidnapper. 3.). Where was the child's mother during all this. I would hope she would be the one calling the police/following the kidnapper. 4.). HD has the police cies in place to keep their employees from harm. They are responsible for the employees while they are working. If this young man had been hurt or killed .... We would be blaming HAD for not protecting their employee. 5.). I wonder if this young man hasn't made himself unemployable in his local are when he became famous for not following policy and then shaming the company on social media instead of handling it in a more professional manner. I, for one, would think twice about hiring someone like this. All this being said, the you man certainly acted selflessly and the outcome was positive. He got lucky. HD certainlycouldhavehandleditbetter
A) Probably numerous 911 calls came in, incl mom. B) He was asked to stay at a safe distance & get info. I have done same when calling 911.
Load More Replies...Hopefully a company with sense will employ this young man because Home Depot sure as hell does not deserve people like this.
Why do you shop/charge there if you can't pay your bills on time?
Load More Replies...Instead of firing people and wasting time like this, how about you save someone for a chance and get fired? See how it feels, b***h.
This would sure have me boycotting Home Depot for life, if I hadn't already sworn off shopping there because of other BS they've done. Keep up the work, Home Depot, I am sure we can watch you go away like your former competitor, Home Base.
What a terrible thing to do to this man , he sacrificed his own life to save this child, he should be given a raise , not fired.
One day Home Depot upper management or their kin could be kidnapped or assaulted and I hope no employee would come to the rescue for fear of being fired.
There are 2 ways of seeing this the first one is the WTF THIS GUY SAVED THIS CHILD FROME PROBABLY GETTING RAPED AND KILLED AND YOUR JUST GOING TO FIRE HIM REALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!! then there is the, well if he tried to save the child and failed and gotten srsly injured or killed then because he was on the clock it would be their fault, but i think because he didn't fail then he shouldn't have been fired so I still hate home depot
I could say I will never go to that store due to this, but given that I am not in the US, that's pretty pointless. However I forsee 2 things. One side the folks that will no longer shop there due to this policy which clearly states that employee's are forbidden to look after you, and on the other hand an increase of the type of customer that prefers not to pay: "let's play it save and rob a HD!" So if this is indeed a liability policy, they didn't think that one through at all!
the unemployment claim document clearly says he was not fired for violating policy. He says it was because of helping the police but who knows. Oregon is an at will employment state and an employer can fire an employee without cause. This guy will get unemployment benefits. That being said, I wish HD would respond with the reason because it looks really bad and they should keep him around for being a hero even if they were otherwise going to let him go.
I won't be shopping at Home Depot and I will recommend my friends and family don't shop there either. Many blessing wished for Mr. Dillon for being such a wonderful human being!!!!!
Well that's one more reason not to shop at Home Depot ever again. Well done, HD.
Home Depot should be ashamed. I'm wondering what the corporate office's response is going to be towards the manager who fired this modern day hero. Especially in light of the fact that he has grounds to sue for wrongful termination not to mention the intense public relations s**t storm this has caused. Corporate management at HD still has an opportunity to make this right. Let's see if they do. If not...Lowe's here I come!
Home DEPOT - #6 on the top 10 most liberal companies in America - http://yellowhammernews.com/nationalpolitics/liberal-companies-business-regular-basis/
well Home Depot is owned by a YUGE trump supporter, what else would one expect from a person who approves of a pervert for president.
Well, when you consider that Home Depot's CEO is one of Trump's biggest fans and thinks Kellyanne Conway is a "terrific person", you begin to understand how an employee might get fired for doing what he thinks is the right thing. Of course, it makes one wonder how the hell Home Depot is still running or how their CEO doesn't drown in the shower...
The text of the company letter condradicts itself. The employee's mistake was omission of informing execs when he started.
This and shite like it is why this country will fall. This is a violent and corrupt government, weak man minded people, cowards that have no real inner strength and need a safe space, people that must dictate how every one else's lives must go, and no one is willing to compromise or fight for what they should.
My hubby and I HATE that store. So many folks harrassed over those Home Depot cards if they're a day late paying a LOUSY $20.00. Even family in ICU isn't an excuse for them to be late.. We call it Home S**T Po and it rightfully deserves that honiker.. That is HORRIBLE firing him over that.. Good for him and he did it on advice.. BOOO Home SHitpo
I would not return to the old job, it's a sign to move on to another one for sure. Leaving gracefully without cursing or condeming ofcourse.
Failure to obey the lawful request of a police officer is a crime. I suppose Lowes would have fired him if he didn't obey the police and was arrested for that.
And wh n did the police decide that sending an unarmed/untrained citizen into a situation with a drunk, violent kidnapper is/was a goo d idea?
Load More Replies...Well, obviously the manager at this Home Depot is involved in this kidnapping somehow. Why else get rid of the man who stopped a crime? Classic sign of corruption - get rid of the good guys first...
This policy is rather common. A security officer at Walmart was fired for getting into a scuffle trying to take a bottle of liquor away from a shoplifter because the shoplifter was beating an associate in the head with the bottle.
I work for Home Depot. I understand the policy. The employees are not allowed to even go out in the parking lot to check the plates on someone who steals. It's to protect the employees. I know people that have gotten guns pulled on them for trying to follow someone out. I've heard stories about employees at other stores being hospitalized because some scumbag ran over them when they went out after them.what if the kidnapper got nervous because they were being chased and did something rash? people get crazy ideas when they are trying to play hero. I'm not saying it's right or even the best idea, but honest to god, it is for their own protection.
Isn't the child a bit more important here? Or is Home Depot only interested in themselves?
Load More Replies...I can see bothvsides. I'm glad the child is OK. I policy is to prevent any associate from being hurt or killed. Fact is there are policies just like this one in almost every big company for insurance reasons. Should the policy be changed??? I don't know. He got his job back buy shaming the company on social media, which I bet he was not allowed to talk ahout.
I wonder if that letter is real. It's not that I don't believe a guy can get fired for these kinds of things. But the way it's worded seems very unlikely. These things are usually worded to simply say what you did wrong. Including the part about preventing a kidnapping seems tactically foolish, since it refers to the reason he shouldn't be fired.
It's not like it's from Home Depot, it's from the Oregon Employment Department. I'm sure that the guy filed for unemployment due to wrongful termination as soon as he could. This was the letter the OED sent confirming that his claim was valid (and stating why he was fired for claim history purposes) and that since he wasn't terminated for bad behavior, he was eligible for unemployment benefits.
Load More Replies...WHY THE HELL DID HE GET FIRED?!?!?!?! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROMOTED TO MORE MONEY AND THE ASSISTANT MANAGER!! HE DID THE RIGHT FRICKEN THING
How?.....What?....Who?.....I don't even know how to begin my question this is so ridiculous!
After examining the letter, I am certain it's a fake. If the store is in Oregon, that would be the only reason the letter would be from an Oregon Employment Agency (Home Depot is based out of Georgia). Also, why is the letter from an employment agency and not The Home Depot? A real letter would have official wording, probably wouldn't state outright that he was fired because he "assisted police in preventing a kidnapping," an official letter would cover it with more tact, whether or not the decision was wrong. The wording in the second sentence makes no grammatical sense; another sign that it is not official. Why would an employer fire someone for misconduct not related to work (sentence after "Legal Conclusion"). A Legal conclusion would probably get him back at work for being fired for misconduct NOT related to work. Though it does say he's eligible for benefits in the first sentence, but the grammar there also doesn't make sense. What benefits? And "if otherwise eligible? FAKE
It is not from Home Depot. Go back and look. It is from Oregon Dept of Employment.
Load More Replies...So many here are assuming Home Depot to be at fault. Is it so hard to realize that the actions taken by an over zealous manager trying to do his/her job as they understood it was actually reversed by a wiser, more enlightened corporation that intervened to correct an unintentional wrong? Or does "instant hate" have to be the one and only and constant go-to response of our nation? Isn't that the stuff of a mob rather than an enlightened society?
Home Depot is at fault. They took a month to look into it, fired him, contested his unemployment benefits, and only just offered his job back

Home Depot fired Mr Reagan without good cause. I hope he gets a better job elsewhere then sues Home Depot for lost wages. They deserve the bad publicity.
I suppose this is what happens when the bottom line and fear of lawsuits comes before people and common sense.
Hey! That's internet here. Let's make that big so that everyone hears about it. That will teach Home Depot a lesson.
They should re-hire him, give the guy a promotion, and a full apology. He literally saved that child's life. He followed police instructions. I think he acted appropriately. Sure, they could have scolded him for putting his own life at risk, but firing him? Does Home Depot not realize just how incredibly BAD this makes them look? It makes them look like they're siding with the kidnapper. It makes them look like they condone people kidnapping children in their store, because, after all, 'we'll fire an employee if they try to stop you. Go for it'.
WTF. if im the owner of that s**t company. i will definitely so lucky cause it will be a good image on my company... brainless people..
I wonder if they'd have fired him if he stopped the man from stealing a riding mower or other merchandise from the store...
Everything has been stated in the comments. How can this firing be legal. IF he was offered to have his job back, would he take it?
I personally would not go back to work in a place that cares more about policy then the life of a child. Sorry but this man did the right thing and probably saved this childs life
Misleading headline. The letter in the photo is concerning his claim for unemployment benefits. It is not a termination letter.
Except there would be no claim for unemployment benefits if he wasn't fired. The letter posted also clearly states the reason he was fired.

I quit.

WELL HOME DEPOT YOU JUST LOST A COSTUMER...I HOPE KARMA KNOCKS AT YOUR DOOR AND THE EMPLOYEES REMEMBER THIS AN DO NOTHING FOR SCUM...
