Georgie Knox of Airdrie, Canada was routinely driving to work when a coyote flashed in front of her vehicle, leaving her no time to brake or swerve before hitting it.
“I heard a crunch and believed I ran over and killed it,” she writes on Facebook. Knox continued driving and claimed she found out the animal’s fate only about 20 miles later: “Upon stopping at a traffic light by my work, a construction woman notified me that there was, in fact, a coyote still embedded in my car. When I got out to look, this poor little guy was looking up and blinking at me.”
Knox notified Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement and they sent a team to help the trapped animal. After a biologist made sure he was healthy, Knox said officers released him in Kananaskis, a park system west of Calgary. Maybe the adventures of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner were actually a documentary?

The f*****g people who "believed she could have stopped sooner". I mean, sure, check if you hit something, that's an alright thing to say, but why are they such a******s about it!? Especially the lady who called the car a "plastic J*p yoke" like you did NOT have to throw in that random racism. (But don't even get me started on the person who was positive but said "God is good". Like, oh, God was looking away for a second while the coyote got hit but he made sure it got hit the right way! F**k off.)
This exact thing happened to me, but with a pigeon. It flew in front of me, I couldn't stop in time and felt the impact. When I got out to check, it had punched a hole in my plastic grating. It poked its head out, wriggled out of the hole, ruffled its feathers, walked away and then flew off! Leaving me looking extremely perplexed next to my car.
At least you stopped right afterwards to check on the animal after the impact. Unlike the human in the above story :-/

You do realise that on highways and such, you really can't stop unless absolute emergency. So unless she wanted to die or get others killed, and had half a sensible mind, she did right to not stop.

Has anyone thought that perhaps that they couldn't stop where they were?
You should always stop after you hit something, especially on a highway. Apart from the poor animal, you could have damaged your car / tyres and having a failure or blow out 5 minutes later at speed could cause your car to crash. I'm glad the coyote is ok but next time something goes "crunch" please stop and check.
If a cat has nine lives, then a coyote has eight. The little fellow has several more to go before it becomes road kill. The guy never even hit the ground. Let's hope Georgie gets that fancy Toyota sports car fixed back up. ;D

I wish the Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement found out where this accident happened and released this guy back in his home turf. Coyotes, like all canids, are pack animals, and a lone coyote has a hard time surviving without them. And, no, another pack would not likely adopt him. Coyotes do have a social order.
Why didn't she get out? That's just plain stupid. I'm glad the poor animal survived, but she was totally out of her mind when she kept driving.

Why would the person not stop sooner? you think you hit the animal? you stop and make sure. I'm certain they have some kind of wild animal team something.
I'm not sure how insurance works in Canada, but there may not have been anything she could have done on the side of the road, other than be late for work. I hit a deer about 7 years ago. I stopped, shut off the car and went looking for it. The POS probably didn't even feel taking out my hood, fender, headlight, turn signal and battery. I get back to my car to discover that it won't start because the battery is cracked and I have to wait 4 hours for somebody to drive by and give me a jump. If I hadn't stopped at least I wouldn't have been late.

I can't stop laughing at "plastic j*p yoke". Anyway: what if it happened to you and you did stop and it was obviously suffering and not going to make it? What if it looked dead but upon closer inspection was still clinging to life but it's entails were falling out? Could you stomach grabbing your tire iron to finish it off? I guess you could call animal control to make them do it and then you could hide behind them to ease your conscience, but it's still stomach churning. I'm not saying it's right to just keep on truckin, but it becomes a little bit more grey when it's you in the situation. It's far easier to judge when you're behind a keyboard and not the wheel.
