#1 on the list of stupidest things ever said to me: "How can you know you don't want kids if you don't try it?" My response was, "Chr!st - we're not talking about shoes! It's not like I can take it back if it turns out I don't "like" it." Mind you - that was said by a man married to a stay-at-home mom who was happy being a 1950's housewife making sure he never had to do anything with his kids at all. Two of us were adopted by grandparents, one was shaken but survived and wss adopted, two we can't locate and the last two she dropped off at an orphanage in their preteens. I met her before she died and she spoke & acted as if I was 2-- the age at which she abandoned me.

I would just like to highlight that babies are cute BECAUSE there's a responsible adult that takes care of them, sometimes even at their own expense. (The poor abused children are cute too, sure, but in this instance, "cute" means happy, smiling, healthy and playful.)
Yes ! Too many girls think they just pop out and are all around all the time adorable beings. No. I mean yes I do still think my kids are adorable even when they're being little buttheads because I love them. They're still adorable but how they're acting isn't at that time, but people have kids not realizing that your baby's going to cry for what it wants and needs and if you don't take care of them well, you don't get a smiley happy baby. Even well cared for kids are not happy all the time, s**t nobody is happy ALL the time. I just get so frustrated when people have babies to treat them like dolls then realize they're nothing like a doll baby and then become a s**t parent in turn raising a poorly adjusted child who will probably become another s**t adult!

Babies are adorable, but it is not for everyone. Having and raising a child (or more) is a choice. When I was a kid hearing of adults not liking children I was confused as to how come. Now that I have kids, I totally get it. I still love kids, but I don't judge if you don't like them. I get it now lol
After babysitting during my teen years, I concluded didn't want children. I do like children, but they are a lifelong commitment. I'm sure your hard work will pay off. One woman told me it was tough being the bad guy and saying "no" to her teenager. She just lit up in sheer joy telling me he's now a fine adult and credits her steady hand for his success.

Being a parent is hard. And you never know how your child will come into the world, like with a sickness, or not. Some people in this world are great parents and unfortunately we see plenty on the news and the internet that are NOT. They clearly don't want or need kids but keep popping them out like they are handing out gum. Babies are not trophies. Babies don't make a person stay in your life. Babies don't just disappear aftet they turn 18. They aren't all bad, and they aren't all good, just like life, everything has it's upside and downs. Just think before you go dragging a baby or two in this very unforgiving world.
Having babies just because they are cute without actually being able to be a good parent is a problem, but there is nothing wrong with liking babies, finding them cute, or wanting to be a parent if you are in a good position to do so.
I'm not overly fond of infants because they're not very interactive. I've discovered it's actually handy at times - I give attention to their older siblings while everyone coos over a boring baby. I have fun, the older kid gets attention, the parents are grateful. And I don't have to hold a baby.

Everytime I'm asked why I don't have kids, I just ask back to explain me why I should have one. Generally, they can't find a valid answer. Oh, I've been told "that's what we're supposed to do" and I ask "who decided?", I've been given the "they're cute" argument and I usually reply I don't need the responsibilities just for a few years of cuteness, plus I have my wife for that, she's cute. And if I feel the need for more, I'd get a dog. Eliminate those two arguments and they don't have any answers.
Also they aren’t even cute to all of us. Some people see babies like cute kittens or puppies. Not everyone though. I think they’re ugly AF like blobfish or something. Again, my body, my uterus and my choice. Babies aren't cute. Kid's aren't cute. They're hard work and super expensive. It's a huge responsibility and if you don't want to push one out of your vagina, that's your right. If you do, that's also your right. No one elses.

As a father of 3 and having the first one via accident when I was 19, I was on the exact same page as this person. I've now come to realize it was the most wonderful thing that ever happened to me. True, I lost some of those things that that person thought was important and they are, what I gained is immeasurably better.
