Sometimes we like to do something nice for someone we know, even if they never ask us to. It’s nice to be nice, y’know?

Don't know if this counts, but I made a friendly stranger bag for a girl ABOUT my age. My mom and I went to Ross to find some dresses for my christmas concert. The bag had a painting, some candy, encouraging words, hair ties, pads, plenty of things to read, a christmas sticker and a christmas card. Since I'm a nervous wimp, my mom had to start the conversation for me. I was like 14 when I did this. It felt good to help someone out. I just kind of knew. Me and my mom just had a feeling that maybe she was in need of some encouraging things. Guys, if y'all ever need to help yourself feel better, make someone else feel better first. You will enjoy the extreme elation of helping someone out. I'm not saying be a whole philanthropist and turn into mr beast but please do something nice for a stranger. It will make you feel happier. When I did that for that girl, i was battling depression. I felt a lot of hate on myself. I had already tried taking my life a couple of times but couldn't do it. I prayed and prayed and prayed. I cried so often that I would have to distance myself from people. I didn't mean to make this sad but please do something for someone at least once. You will not regret it.

This is so incredibly adorable thanks so much for your post! And yes I agree that when you’re mentally low, help someone else out. It’ll make you feel 100 times better.

When I was younger, my family had serious financial problems. I (F) dressed like a boy in second hand clothes because my clothes would then be passed on to my brother. With my first salary, I took my little brother (he was 16) to the mall and bought him trendy shoes, shirts and trousers, so that he could have something new for the first time in his life and never have to be ashamed anymore

That’s so sweet. I’m sorry your family ended up that way, that was so nice of you.

My brother, who had Asperger's, ADD, and several other things, had the worst self-esteem I've ever seen. He would pass out the Christmas gifts every year. Even when he was an adult, Mom practically had to force him to open his. He didn't feel he deserved presents, and wanted to pass them to the family, who did. One year I bought him a watch. It wasn't a nice watch, as I lived paycheck to paycheck, but it looked nice for the price. When he opened that present, he stopped passing out presents long enough to take the watch out of the container, set it, and put it on. I don't think I've ever given any other gift that meant so much to the gifted. We were all just looking on in awe until he was ready to pass out the rest of the presents. He wore that watch until the day he died.

For about a week, I went and bought trinkets for me and my big brother when I was 7. It was a nice gesture, I believe.

made a painting of our cat for my mom on mothers day, made her a soap dish out of glass, and gave my sib moral support when their mom was being a real jackass

I usually do a lot of nice things but I almost died over something stupid but it was worth it. My cousin had a prized toy she loved and always kept with her but it dropped in the pool (adults were too busy and no other kids could swim) ofc it was in the deep end so I almost f**king drowned getting the toy. But seeing her cry from joy made me happy

My sister and her family were coming out for Christmas, and ran into a massive snowstorm... to the point we couldn't see the road. We decided to take some trucks (2 in case one got stuck and had to pull the other out) out to go meet them at the major highway because there was no way they'd make it down the country roads.

Well... we got into the trucks and we still couldn't see the road in front of us or the ditches to the side, so I got out of the truck and ran/walked in front of the truck so they could see me, and I could see the road, until we reached them.
