When my rescue died, Chewy sent me flowers. An unexpected kindness from corporate America. Wonderful and touching
I had 2 cats that were old - both 18 years. They passed away a month from each other. Chewy sent flowers for each of them.
June 2020, height of the pandemic.
My husband lost his job, so many reached out to help us, but there are two I will never forget.
My co workers gave me $200.00, and several gift cards.
A friend gave me an envelope and told me it was anonymous. It was $1,000.00.
Such kindness!!
The animal shelter stayed open an extra half hour so I could get there to adopt my dog.
My husband and I had just started dating on Valentine’s Day, 2004. I was working at a cafe then doing the breakfast/lunch shift when he showed up with a dozen and a half red roses. The hostess told him he was the last one to bring flowers to their SO but they were the prettiest flowers. I was completely overwhelmed. 18 years later he still brings me the prettiest flowers.
After giving birth to child 5. When we left the hospital my husband took over, the Moses basket went on his side of the bed, he did all the night feeds and changes whilst I got sleep…. His reasonings he was so in awe of how amazing I was to give birth and not complain or ask for drugs once. Out of all 5 children our youngest hit him the most. Labour was very fast to be fair. But I can tell you I will be eternally thankful for those first nights sleep I got and the fact that my hubby still thinks it’s amazing women give birth.
I have a online friend that refuses to choose to ignore me in spite of my EXTREME social awkwardness. And, because of that, I think I’m getting a little bit better at socializing (online at least, but it’s a start!)
When I was 32, I was on heavy chemo in the middle of a harsh Buffalo winter. I had lost my hair and eyebrows, but covered it up with a heavy winter hat. One day after leaving Roswell, I felt well enough to eat in public without fear of throwing up, so my mother took me to a local diner as a special treat. Apparently, unbeknownst to us, the large family eating near us had noticed my situation because towards the end of the meal, the waitress stopped over with a delighted smile and informed us that they had caught her attention and paid for our food. It might seem like a simple gesture, but it meant so much to me that somebody had done that for me and my family. I’ll never forget it.
When all my friends were avoiding me, one of the bullies in my school and his cousin hung out with me to cheer me up☺️
I'm an aspiring writer but am very self-conscious about my work. Only two people have ever seen my stories: my wonderful, trusting best friend, and my grandma, who used to be a teacher and absolutely adores having a sneak peek into my imagination. Both of them I know will continue to support and encourage my passion, and for them I am very grateful :)
