When I listen to music from my past I can tell you exactly what was going on in my life when the song was popular. Kind of like background music to my life.

Smells!
The smell of pollon reminds me of cycling in spring, fences lit up by radient hedge roses and the leaves finally growing back.
Smelling fried fat reminds me of going out to lunch with friends in small shops on cloudy days, when the buildings would fade into the sky
And best of all is the smell of an old friend!

Bless both of you. It's a real shift in the universe if at some point there is a role reversal. I miss my mom so much. For some reason that was coming up in my thoughts so much today. What I did as she aged was I took "snapshots and videos" in my head purposefully of even the smallest of things, and moments. When I cook at the stove, in my head I see her sitting on her stool cooking dinner. Seeing her drive off in her golf cart to go visiting. Even watching her as she walked down the hall. It's the brain snapshots of the little things that you miss more than anything. Take a lot of pictures.

And watching the first episode of a long series after you finish it. The characters look so different and you feel like you watched them grow up.

I make a point of going out for walks/runs in the woods when it rains, because it takes me back to the days of camping trips and summer camp. There is something so liberating about passing that point where you normally avoid getting wet and embrace being completely soaked.

Smelling a box of Crayola Crayons or pencil shavings. It reminds me of drawing things as a kid. Crayolas used to be made with Beef Fat, and had a very distinct smell. They changed that to some kind of artificial substance a long time ago and it's not the same. Ditto with pencil shavings. They used to make pencils out of a type of Cedar (maybe some still do) but now a lot are plastic or cheaper wood.

Yeah, the good old days when some people could be as selfish, insensitive, bigoted, and misogynistic as they wanted, without any consequences. Sure do miss that. NOT!

Seeing a picture of the skyline of Dallas TX. Life was so very wonderful when I lived there. I miss everything and everybody, especially my wonderful nephew. Having to move away I missed so much of his life. 😔. My quilt. After my mom died I took many pieces of clothing of both hers and my dad's. I cut them into squares, and having never made a quilt before, still, I put all these squares together and made one. Each square has a significance all it's own. I love to run my hands over it.

I loved the controversy way back when he did the routine about the swear words you can't say on TV. It was a great thumb of his nose to the "establishment".

I guess that this is what makes me nostalgic. I hope you’re doing well Billy! You have a wonderful sense of humor and I miss getting to talk to you

When me and my brother and sister were little we would go off on our bikes to the fields being harvested and wait for them to come round. Our grandad drove the combine, my dad the corn cart.
