Do not drink alcoholic drinks when you're out in the wilderness in the cold. You may think it's warming you up but you're body is cooling down, internally, putting you at risk of hypothermia a lot quicker than if you had just drank water.

And over bundling up will cause you to overheat and sweat, causing the inside of your clothing to get soaked putting you at risk of frostbite. You should be just warm enough to be able to function and not shiver. But not feeling so warm you're breaking out a sweat. So, pace yourself when doing outdoor activities and don't over-exert yourself.

If you are ever in a sinking car, remember that the head rest in your car doubles as a tool to break the windows when you pull it out of the seat.

When going on a multi day hike, the temptation is to pack everything. Carry as little as possible and the most important thing to carry is a good nights sleep.
