Last year's snowstorms were pretty huge. My girlfriend's parents were stuck inside their village home without electricity for a few days until the plow came.

For me it was a snowstorm I went through when I was 7, we got over a foot and snow and made it extremely difficult to get to places until a snow plow came

We get cyclones, one every year. The worst was in 2019, when power supply was cut for 7-8 days, some houses did not get water even! Coastal places had to go without electricity for 3 months straight. Nearly all trees uprooted, glass shards everywhere, even trucks turned over with that wind speed.

I was like, 12, and I was sleeping over at my friends house. Her parents were at the store, so I was at her house with her, her brothers, and her sisters. There was a bunch of thunder and lightning and it was like right above us. I had never really experienced this bad of a storm, and I was having a horrible anxiety attack. I was literally crying, and after a bit, I learned that the storm was very close to my house. I was so freakin’ scared.

When I was about 6 y.o. I went with my mom and several other moms and kids to Caspian sea (around 1986). We had a guide - one of the locals, he drove us to the seashore in a truck and remained there with us through the whole time just in case (the truck matters, I promise). It was totally empty shore. Only us in tents, sand dunes and the sea. And the storm came. The waves were huge, not that we got to see much of them. The wind was terrifying, sand swirling in the air - so thick that we couldn't see more than couple of meters away. We hid in our tents, holding the flaps, but the tents fluttered like they were ready to fly away (and one of the tents did). And all of this even though we had the truck shielding us from the wind. When the storm was over, just 1/3 of the big truck could be seen above the sand.

I was like 7 and lived in Michigan. One late night we got a tornado alert so we all huddled down into our basement. I also remember screaming at my dad to don’t go upstairs to get more blankets because I didn’t want him to be sucked up by the tornado (there never was a tornado and if there was it never came near us). So that was fun.

Last summer on a small boat. We were waiting at the dock for a spot to open so we could get off. Out of nowhere a hail storm started. We were being pounded by golf ball sized hail on the open water for about 5 minutes with only towels to hold over our heads.

I have a few stories, probably not as bad as other people though.

I was 12, we had a pretty big snow storm, power was out across the whole town. I had to sleep in the living room with the whole family and didn't fall asleep at all because younger brother and dad both snore. Next morning, we go outside, lots of snow everywhere, I was pretty tiny back then, was very underweight for my age, so the snow went up to my knees. I didn't stay outside very long.

My second story was when I was 17, it rained a lot, the river flooded so bad, and our front porch was also flooded, water kept leaking in the house from under the door. The only time I have ever seen the river here flood that high.

Easily the Iowa Derecho last in 2020 my family was lucky and got power back after 10 hours. We also had a gas stove and made popcorn and a fire out front. It was nice to see the stars which is a rare sight due to light pollution.

I was in a couple hurricanes in North Carolina. I was not prepared for what took place!! I thought I was going to be blown away with my house. I was in middle school then, but I think I would be just as terrified

A tornado blew through my neighborhood back in July while my parents were on their anniversary trip to PA and my grandparents were watching us until they got back. They were going to get back that night but then the tornado hit. It was hailing horizontally. Fortunately nothing was seriously damaged, a few trees fell, but only one on a house and the roof didn’t break or anything.Me and my siblings had to go into my sisters room which has no windows and my youngest sister was scared out of her mind and has stormaphobia now due to that one storm it was very scary bc my Papaw was upstairs and there are skylights upstairs and he didn’t want to come down for some reason. We were without power for hours, which wasn’t that bad we had battery lights, but it got very hot upstairs where my youngest two siblings sleep so they had to come downstairs and my brother was in my hammock, my youngest sister was on the couch, and my grandparents were on the foldout couch. The power came back on just as my parents came home fortunately.

I moved, with my family, to the Ozarks (trip was around 1100 miles long) during the winter storm of 1993. Even interstates were being closed and we ended up waiting it out in a hotel room with two dogs and a cat.

Since I'm in the Ozarks we have had our fair share of tornados.

The ice storm of 2007 left the entire area without power for over 2 weeks. My son was only 3 months old at the time and we had just started to get a hand on his medical issues. All of my fish and houseplants died. We had generators but they could only be used for short amounts of time and could not run more than a small space heater.
