We humans of all creatures know that our lives are meant to be lived surrounded by thoughts and visions. But sometimes we tend to take this into less consideration and spend our days in a not satisfying mode. This, however, creates dissatisfaction with our lives and disappointments that follow through. So, Pandas, what was the moment in your lives, if any, that made you say, hey, enough is enough, I am getting my self out of the sleep mode that I am on and start living my life to the fullest?

I don't know; in my experience, these turning points are more subtle than people usually imagine. But it was probably when I just decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and how my life's going and decided to turn it around. It's more of a willpower thing for me.

I've struggled with being an alcoholic all of my life. Out of housing needs and knowing I needed a change I joined a men's sober house. It was Christian based which I didn't think I would have a problem with. It was a cult.

Within a few weeks of living there I was told I couldn't speak to my family even though they were a very good influence on me. They preached that the world would end at a certain date. ( That date has come and passed. We are still here lol) and that Allah was the devil.

I'm not Muslim but even with a quick search Allah means God. ( Followers please correct me if I'm wrong there)

Anyway I finally got kicked out. Life didn't become easier but I saw that I needed to find a clear understanding of who or what God was to me. ( Thats a core principle of the 12 steps) from that I am able to build my life in a better way.

When I realized that the News reported on TV and in newspapers is not objective, but has a bias based on the political bent of the corporation that owns the media, and in the worst case is often pure propaganda. We get taught at school that certain countries (that shall remain nameless) are subjected to endless propaganda by their governments and how lucky we are that we don't have that in our country and that we are just given the facts.

This, in conjunction with the realization that governments don't work for the people. They either work for themselves or for big corporations and industries that give them money. Again, governments in foreign nations are corrupt, but our government works for the people. Yeah, right.
