What new job skills have you learned/picked up during the Covid-19 pandemic? I went from driving a white van to becoming a successful contact tracer for the NHS. I never thought I would ever be doing anything like it in my life but I found I was very good at it and I had skills I never knew I had.

I learned how to do 5 different job roles within healthcare because while our clinic was essential, apparently some job roles were not!
60% of the staff were sent home on furlough. The only people remaining were clinical staff (doctors and nurses) and management (Me).
I had to become proficient in triage, decontamination, treatment planning & scheduling, Stock & supply management, as well as lab work.
The staff that were sent home were all on call to be "Re-deployed within the NHS". Not one of those highly skilled workers were contacted.

I never thought i would ever be doing a job like i was. We were the human side of the National test and trace. We worked for the local authority and we went for quality rather than quality. We made welfare calls to cases arranged medical help and help with shopping etc.

I learnt how to draw NFT collections. I'm a digital illustrator but most of my clients where having troubles with their own business, so I've got less and less gigs. Then a friend of mine ask me if I knew how to make an NFT collection (just the illustrations). I didn't, but checked out what was it about. It requires a common base and several interchangeable traits, that can fit together without overlapping. It's kinda tricky but I've got good at it and now I'm full time at it (gotta take the chance while it lasts)

I work in the postal service, and this service never stopped, instead it increased a lot. During the pandemic I was forced to leave my house more then ever and work long extra hours, every saturday and many sunday's. Even more when I went from the forklift to supervisor, when I had to learn to lead people and manage resources.
I was already unhappy with the job, so it inspired me to completely change career. So I'm learning programming languages now. And maybe I can find a job where I don't need daily commuting and to be in the middle of a very stressful and physical operation l am now.

I learned how to do my entire job with my son underfoot, I work in a family owned bookkeeping and tax office, we were considered essential workers, but I was the only one who HAD to be in the office, so I brought my son to work with me. I even turned the conference room into his class room, so that's where he did his distance learning from.

More than anything, I (re)learned how to be me. Having time off from high school did mean less time with friends, but it also gave me the chance to reevaluate what I wanted for my future. I’m now taking classes closest to photography and videography(my college scrapped its photography program over the summer, and apparently that alone generated at least 50% of the revenue) as a college freshman, and even though I have to use studio equipment for class projects, I also have weekends and some afternoons to use my personal equipment to relax.

Since I am disabled, I craft a lot and occasionally sell. My husband started working one week home, one week at the hospital (IT professional for the VA hospital). I was used to doing things my way, but had to learn to share my space and do things differently so he could work. He had a heart attack in December so now he works from home full time until further notice. It was a big adjustment for both of us. Upside is that we spend more time together and find we are learning from each other

I learned a totally useless jobb. Boredom and desperation took me to learn how to teach tricks to cats, and then taught my cat to do "hand", "sit", "stay", "up" (stand up like a squirrel) and "lay" (doesn't work sometimes. She hates that one). Took months and patience but was fun! And she loved it and still loves to perform her tricks.
