Everyone tells them, but what do you tell?

Well I'm pretty sure my mother and I were haunted at the vintage rec room at the Newagen Inn...

But the one I tell is of Old Man Gurney on Murder Island. Every summer kids would kayak out to the little island on the little-known lake in Maine. They'd party and trash the little cedar shack with the peeling red paint. One night, in 1960, Old Man Gurney had enough. While the young delinquents were passed out on the smooth rock that made up most of the tiny island, he went around and snatched them up. When the teens awoke the next day, the found some of their friends to be missing, kayaks floating upside down in the middle of the roiling lake. When they heard the wind keeping through Gurney's rusted turbine ventilator, they knew what had happened. At least, they thought they did...
The teens believed their friends had drowned, kayaking drunk. But one kid had other ideas. She thought it strange that they didn't hear their friends struggle. Didn't hear anything. So she snuck her way onto Old Man Gurney's fishing boat and decided to poke around while the creepy codger was on the mainland. She found his sink full of blood, but wasn't too concerned. That was where he butchered his pescan catches. But she had a gut feeling... She leaned down into the sink and, suppressing a gag, nabbed something caught in the drain. She rinsed off the item and examined it.

It was a tooth.

A human tooth.

Before she could utter a single syllable of a scream, arms wrapped around her from behind, heavy rubber gloves covering her mouth. Her head was slammed into the sink.

Once. She saw red.

Twice. She saw black.

Thrice. She was dead.

They say you can still hear the children's wails when the wind blows through that rusty ventilator on that decrepit crimson shack. And sometimes, when the sun hits the morning fog just right, you can see Old Man Gurney, cleaning his latest catch.

I once lived with an entity that absolutely tortured me.
I had never really experienced ghostly encounters or felt I was sensitive to spirits until I was 15. I was in a car accident that killed the other people and 6 months later my cousin, more like my twin, had died. My family and I were devastated. Suddenly the house in which we grew up that was once my favorite place in the world became evil. This thing fed off our grief and fear. The first night something came in the bedroom with me, sat on the bed and walked out. The doors would slam shut. You could feel these things stare at you with such hate. See shadows walking around you at night. Covers being held down hard enough to see on the mattress. obviously it became unbearable. I started to sleep on an old army cot by the fireplace in the living room because after only one month of my cousin being dead not even the dog would go near his room. I've had doors slammed, knocks or scratches on the walls and ceilings. Things thrown, lights turned on and off, and horrific nightmares. It would get so bad the only thing me or anyone with brave enough to stay could to do was pray. I once got my nerves up wanting to sleep in the bed. That night something punched me through the bed so hard I came off the bed. I never went back in the room. By this point my family had broken apart and I was almost homeless because of how bad these entities toyed with us. The last time I went in the house alone was the scariest.
I was alone needing the tanning bed. Took all the nerve I had because I could feel that something was going wrong. I started my playlist that I've played for 10 years. First song played without a problem and next was "the End" by the Doors. Nothing. I started getting nervous and so did the dog. After a minute or two I was so scared I opened the tanning bed and put my foot on the floor to stand up. Soon as my toes touched the floor "this is the end. my only friend, the end" skipping the one minute intro of instruments. I knew whatever was there was going to end up killing me or make me commit suicide. It targeted me because the deaths had left my mind and soul vulnerable.
I'm almost too nervous to post this afraid that thing will know.
Overlook grammer and spelling errors. This is written with PTSD nerves.

I have a few, all happened many years ago. The best (worst) was Everyone in my house was asleep upstairs, my room was in the basement (so many stories in that room like this). I went to feed our cat downstairs and walked by my room. Noticed a cold breeze coming from my window so I shut the window, followed by latching an internal shutter that was over the window. Turned off all my lights in my room and went back upstairs to watch TV. When I returned to my bedroom all my lights were on, shutter wide open, window wide open, closet doors open. We had a tiny house and no way anyone was awake walking around but me. This is one of many stories like that in that bedroom. This one made me wake up my parents, I was young and in high school. Terrifying.

I feel the need to tell a couple more about that room. One time I was sitting on my bed, playing my clarinet and lights turned on. I was alone with my door shut. We didn’t have electrical issues in that house, it freaked me out. Another time my friend and I were in my room sitting on the floor at the foot of my bed looking at our school year books we just got that day. When we stood up, there was a Bible (that never got used and sat in my bookcase headboard) that was laying at the foot of the bed right behind our heads. Wasn’t there when we sat down. That friend NEVER would have a sleep over again at my house. So many stories in that house in that room. So when my kids tell me they are scared of ghosts, I tell them trust me you would know if we had them. We don’t.

So first of, the obligatory 'I don't believe in ghosts' statement, because, well, I don't!
My dad used to work for the local authorities driving around the elderly and people with disabilities. This meant he got free entry to a lot of places, air shows, museums, that sort of thing. If I was out of school (which happened a lot due to my behaviour) I'd get to tag along.
One Autumn he was tasked with taking a group of 80+ year olds to Ham House (allegedly the most haunted place in England).
While there we there I took plenty of pictures of the building, the grounds, the staff wearing period costumes.
When we developed the pictures (this was before digital cameras) there was not a single one that included the staff in period dress. I mean, the photos were there, but the staff were not in the pictures.
My dad didn't believe in ghosts until we got to a photo of him posing for a picture with his arm around... nobody, it was just hanging in the air.

My mum told me this not too long ago. It's a true story.

Firstly, for some context, my house has a driveway that comes off the road and immediately turns 90 degrees. Between the driveway and the road there's a thick layer of bush. We have a kitchen window looking out over the driveway, towards the road. Nobody really walks out there, they just drive their car up and hop out outside the front door.

This first part happened when I was, say, three years old. So I was in the kitchen, don't know what I was doing, but apparently my mum caught me waving out the kitchen window. She asked me who I was waving to, and I said "The old man on the driveway". There was nobody there and no sign of anyone entering. The dog hadn't even barked. She assumed it was just my imagination.

One and a half years later, my brother was about the same age. After having heard nothing of the situation that I had, he also waved out the window, claiming he was waving to the old man on the driveway. Still no sign of anything.

Still have yet to try and use an Ouija board but I'm eager to. Hopefully we can make friends with the man on the driveway.

Many years ago, there were quintuplets. A,b,c,d, and e. When a thunderstorm struck, they all went missing. A masked man was hunting for them, A was found first. When A was killed with an arrow, B bled out. C was killed in a car crash, D Died, with no known cause. E escaped the chain of death when she killed an eagle.

I always believed that the house I grew up in was haunted. There were a lot of little things that would happen but there are 2 stand out stories.

When I was in middle school, I was home alone getting ready to go to a friend's house when I heard footsteps in the attic. Its an old house and I knew the ghost likes to be up there in the daytime so I tried to brush it off. Then I felt a cold wind move from the bottom of the attic steps (attached to my room), past me, into the hallway. Suddenly on the other side of the wall, stuff just starting falling over. I booked it out of there.

Next incident was shortly after I moved out. I went to the house for something and didn't have the key. A bunch of the upstairs lights were on so I rang the door bell and started knocking for my mom to let me in. I see someone walk across the second floor hallway from the window of the door and I started waving to them. Then it clicks that the person walking was a man in 30s style type clothing. No one was home. No signs of a break in and what robber would be casually walking around after my dumb butt is ringing the doorbell and screaming to let me in?

My mom thinks I'm crazy and still lives there.
