The grimmer topic today. I've been dealing with self-anxiety and depression lately. What can I do to help this?

See a therapist.

If that doesn't help, see a different therapist.

If that doesn't help, see a different therapist.

In other words, not all therapists are the same, just because one isn't working for you, doesn't mean therapy won't work. It's all about finding the right person and treatment method.

Therapy isn't for everybody, though. It may not be the orad for you. Certainly wasn't for me.

Reach out and get help!! This is extremely important. It might be hard at first, because you would feel like pushing help and friends away, rather than accepting it.
And you aren't alone, I've gone through depression and have had and helped several friends with depression.
If you can, find a good therapist to help you
Take care of yourself. Make sure you are you eating full meals, and try to get enough sleep if you can, and exercise. (Go on walks, bike rides, runs, jogs, things like that. If you can. Because of all the covid stuff, some people are still stuck in their homes)

Some other things...

Remember that you are cared for.
Write a gratitude list when you start to get negative thoughts.
Write down your thoughts in a journal/notebook

Hope this helps :)

My therapist was able to get me out of the depression. Get out, don’t isolate. See people even if you don’t want to. Join support groups or find group therapy. You will find out that you aren’t alone!

As others have suggested, seek the right therapist for you, and don't settle for one that doesn't feel right (as nice as they may seem). While they focus on your mind, you focus on your body, keeping/getting as physically healthy as you can be. Keeping in mind, of course, that YOUR healthy is not the same as everyone else's - so if you don't do any physical exercise right now, perhaps just drinking enough water and getting yourself to go for daily walks is enough for you. But then stick to it, obsess over it, have it become a natural daily thing you do without thinking about it, eventually. Finally, and I think most importantly, learn to depend on YOURSELF and not on others to determine how YOU feel. YOU have the power, take it back if you've lent it to others somehow. It's okay to be selfish until you are well enough to help others, but always remember YOU come first, and also always remember others are already doing this - they come first to themselves, not to you, so you must take ownership and accountability for yourself.
