I’ve said it here before but I’ll say it again! This one helps if you’re afraid of making mistakes, or if you feel like you always mess things up:
Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement.

Don't panic! - HHGTTG

Que Sera Sera - "Whatever will be will be" - Old Doris Day song my grandma used to quote/sing all the time

Not my monkeys, not my circus -P.T. Barnum (side note- I'm a manager, so this quote doesn't apply at work)

Forgiveness doesn't mean saying it didn't happen. Forgiveness doesn't mean that those who hurt you are are getting away with it. Forgiveness means you are releasing the power they have to hurt you still. It means letting go of the power that they still have over you because you hate them for what they've done. That hate is more toxic to you than anything you went through. Forgiveness isn't about forgetting, it's about setting yourself free. - an old therapist of mine.

I’ll go first. I was in therapy talking about how my brain never stops working, and about all the negative voices that beat me down and make me doubt myself. She replied: You are not your thoughts. You are the thing that’s observing your thoughts. You are the reasonable one listening to the negative voices in your head. You can tell them to stop.

"You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star."

"I assess the power of a will by how much resistance, pain, torture it endures and knows how to turn to its advantage."

Both by Nietzsche. Yeah... I'm deep like that.

It’s not something any person told me, per se, it’s from a TV series. But it has changed my perspective, perhaps both for better and for worse. In the final episode of Defending Jacob, on Apple TV+, Andy Barber says, “there was no normal to go back to. It was just before, and after.” After thinking about it, I realized it applies to not just the pandemic, but also to my two diagnoses(childhood brain cancer, in August 2013, and then epilepsy, in May 2020). I can think of a few other examples from my life, but those would take too long to explain.

I guess it helped me accept that once something ‘big’ has happened, reality will never be the same, as much as we might want it to. It helped me keep moving forward with my life.

'What you resist, persists'
Applicable to situations where we try to suppress our fears, anger or simply avoid arguments or discussions for sake of avoiding pain or outburst of emotions. And the pain keeps coming back because it needs to be validated out in the open, to heal and resolve.

“Everything happens for a reason.” It’s as simple as that. Think about a best friend or loved one outside of family, think about how you guys met. Everything in your life before that all happened for that moment where you met them. I live by that quote.
