Wind whipping through their hair, Tae stood on the beach, eyes narrowed at the sea. They'd gone to bed normally, then smelled salt and opened their eyes to see the waves lapping and their feet.
"Who are you? Why do you keep bringing me here?!" they shout to the wind.
Shadows curl up their ankles, mixing with the tide. Join Me, a voice whispers.
Tae tries to step back, but the darkness clings to them, crawling ever higher.
Join Me...
The shadows reach their chest, neck, pulling them out to the tide...

They're part of the sea now. They spend their days, listening, watching, waiting. The Ocean needs a sacrifice ever so often... the girl fights...

Join Me, they whisper. They've forgotten their name, their life... All they know is the push and pull of The Ocean's call.

Join Me...

I was looking around my room one evening, as I noticed something I had failed to notice previously. A lot of the stuff I owned and had taken for granted, somebody had put hard work and effort into inventing, actually making, and selling. And most of it was made of plastic. I know plastic is bad, but it was, and still is, something humans would struggle to live without. The glass would fall out of the windows, my glasses would not stay on my face, we wouldn't have any ipads, or phones, or televisions, or anything like that. Suddenly, I thought my eyes were going funny as all the plastic appeared to be fading in front of me. I panicked. My phone melted through my fingers and dissolved in front of my very eyes. Suddenly, as the mirror frame went, the mirror fell and shattered. I picked up a shard, and, to my horror, I saw my face was melting. This couldn't be real! It had to be a nightmare, right? Wrong. It was real. Very real. Suddenly, I had a thought. I had spent millions on plastic surgery, but now all the plastic was disintegrating before me. I dropped the shard of glass I was holding and it shattered into a million pieces at my feet as I screamed a long, high pitched scream and vanished into nothingness. The last thing I saw was my blood dripping from my hand where the shard of glass had dug deeply into my skin.

There was an abandoned building in the outskirts of a town. It must have been there for ages, yet even the eldest townsfolk knew nothing about it. However, what everyone knew was that it was haunted. In fact, it was called "The Nest of Demons". Something or the other would always prevent its demolition. Some Priests have tried exorcising the place, but each one mysteriously died before sunrise the next day.

Something could always be heard moving about in the dark in a manner unlike any living creature. Something could always be heard whispering in an unknown language, faint and distant, yet clear and enticing.

Once, a group of three kids decided to enter the premise and find out more about it. The Sun hadn't set yet so they felt safer. The place was desolate inside out, with a putrid smell of decay indoors. Whatever was inside was anything but Earthly. As darkness fell, the demonic voices got louder and the floors and walls looked like they were bleeding.

The kids decided it was best to leave quickly. But as they turned to leave, they noticed that none of the rooms looked the same as before, as if the rooms, the walls and all the furniture had shifted every time they went through a room. As they tried to figure out the way, they dark inhuman figures approaching them, speaking their language with a deep guttural voice. One of the demons was an amalgamation of bloodied corpses with rotting flesh hanging from its bones and a single eyeball hanging from a socket of one of its skulls, another was a giant centipede with a humanoid upper half at its front, and another was a huge slug with a slimy mass of tentacles as its head.

With no hope of finding the way out, the kids decided to break open a window and find a way to climb down. However, when they looked out, they were luckily only on the ground floor somehow, after climbing two flights of stairs. While running away, they didn't look back at the gate left unlocked. When they returned, they told everyone what they saw. When the eldest in the town asked them about the gate, they realised they had left it open.

The livid elder told them the lock was blessed by a group of Saints specifically to prevent the demons from escaping. Everyone was terrified, and that night, their fear was confirmed. An entire legion of demons attacked them and wiped out the whole town from the face of the Earth and from the pages of History. In their last moments, the people, driven mad with fear, began to understand the whispers. "Come join us. Resistance is futile. You cannot escape".
