How did social media and the ability to reach millions in seconds turn so many people into uncaring, thoughtless jerks? Either you are a jerk, or you're not. Some people, like myself, know I'm a jerk and am always trying to be more positive but I'm turning into an agoraphobic and I've got something I've never experienced before...

It's obviously not writer's block but it's more like writer's "reluctance". I worry because every single thing I say about anything is attacked and called prejudiced or politically incorrect. If that's true isn't that my ancestors' fault and my duty to try to make it right?

Kids of today, please explain to me how everyone over 30 is the enemy? It's always been that way, I've just never been on the other side of the line - being 52 now. I feel like our generation, which graduated in the 80s folk - is getting blamed for every horrible thing that's happened since 1960. I'm truly scared to express my opinion about pretty much anything as I'm afraid it's just going to be misunderstood and I'll get bashed all to hell on the internet when I'm a non-violent pacifist that believes in helping out anyone doing worse than me if I can.

I'm probably going to be ridiculed big time just for expressing these thoughts. I'm curious about the percentage of haters to no-haters... I really don't want to find out the hard way... just curious.

Ignore them. It’ll probably make them annoyed. And you don’t even have to do a thing

1. If its a fake compliment reply "thank you SO MUCH."
2. Ignore them.
3. If they say that are better than you at something reply "Really? Good for you!" Or " congratulations! ".
Also, remember, " a hater could see you walk on water and say its because you can't swim."

It's quite easy for me because I actually don't care what people say.
I was told by my that any rude comments I get I should approach them as follows:
Firstly you have to assess the statement/comment.
If it's a troll, just delete it where possible and ignore where it's not possible.
If it's a valid criticism take it 'under consideration' but remember everyone has different tastes and opinions and you need to look to your target audience as a priority.
If it's just ranting or someone dying on an irrelevant hill, one response I like to use is:
'I appreciate you taking the time to offer your opinion, however I feel your comments are extremely subjective and, at this time, I am looking for more objective feedback.'

Try to stick with the people you're friends with, or just go to a different part of the website and ignore them. That's the smart thing to do, don't fight fire with fire.

You have to ignore what they are saying, say nice stuff to everyone including them, basically act as if they are nice. This is how I dealt with the person who was mean to me.

Just look at them like this "😐" and don't day anything at all and just stare at them directly in the eyes until they slowly walk away.
Or you can do what my brother does and laugh and laugh like a maniac and say nothing until they slowly walk away.

When the world turns it's back on you, turn your back against the world.

Just let it go and remember, negativity and hate are coming from trolls. They're just trying to get a rise out of you. They're not attacking you, necessarily, there are just lots of people who get off on purposely trying to piss people off. (And yes, I'm guilty of occasionally trolling too. Sometimes it's just fun)

My niece was 14 at the time, last year of middle school. A couple boys had taken an interest in her, just talking. A few other girls in her class started saying some mean things about her, cliche jealous mean girl stuff. Asked me for some advise. I told her to say, and I quote,

"Don't hate the player, just hate the game."

Got yelled at by my SIL, while my brother is laughing his a$$ off in the other room.

Two ways: 1: hate back! 2: tell them that the thing they said was really good and laughed at it!
